Tazo® Green Tea Latte

Green Tea by Tazo

Sweetened matcha green tea with steamed milk.

The Japanese tea ceremony emphasizes the virtues of humility, restraint and simplicity, its practice governed by a set of highly ritualized actions. But this smooth and creamy matcha-based beverage can be enjoyed any way you like. So by all means, slurp away if you want to.

Did you know?
Only the last sip of matcha should be slurped at a Japanese tea ceremony to let the host know you have finished and to show your appreciation.

I got a green tea latte from Starbucks today. This is the straightest I have probably ever had matcha and I should probably be eating something with it because I’m getting a little caffeine headache. It tastes really good though and I’m taking it easy. I’m just not used to it.

My fiancee, friends, and I all went out to see the Rocky Horror Show yesterday. It was my first time seeing it live and it was amazing! The crew was fantastic and the opening band was very creepy cool. My favorite moment was when we all threw the toilet paper. That was something I always wanted to do, but would have gotten in trouble to actually do it.

Before the show I got a large latte to round out my meal so I wouldn’t be snacking when we got out of the show around 2 AM. It was so yummy. It filled me up for the rest of the night which makes me think that matcha would be the perfect tea for a person trying to diet. Between the regular and flavored matchas, it would satisfy every craving you might have. You would just have to be careful that you didn’t overdo it with the matcha lattes and have most of them without milk.

Tall 2 pump mocha 2 pump peppermint non fat no water green tea latte w/ whip and mocha drizzle. The only way I like a green tea latte… if only they wouldn’t sweeten the matcha! And it’d be a lot easier if they’d just put “Green Tea Peppermint Hot Chocolate” on the menu:) The barista I normally have is great though.

Tall NF NC NW +2M +2P GLT w/ Whip + choc sprinkles… or so my cup says. In other words: tall non fat no classic no water 2 pump mocha 2 pump pepermint green tea latte w/ whip and chocolate sprinkles. I’ve actually had 3 of them since Sunday… yay! One of the girls I stayed w/ this week is a barista so she even made me one free. She tried it (due to allergies, the soy version), but said it was too sweet. But then again the soy milk is sweeter and she doesn’t even do mochas.

1 short (8 oz) with soy.

In. Love.

I like matcha with soy milk — like it a lot. I first tried the combo in the Matcha Monsoon smoothie from Booster Juice. In a nice warm latte, the combo’s even better. A bit sweet — does anyone know if I can get this baby unsweetened? The matcha itself is vegetal and creamy, too.

All in all, a bit heavy with the soy milk and sweetener. I’be be willing to try this with half skim, half 2% milk, or maybe even with all skim, to see if it’s a bit lighter that way. But when I’m willing to drink 150 calories, this is YUM.

I’ve had a few of these wiothout the extra syrup — much nicer aftertaste — and with both soy and dairy milk. Soy complements matcha better. This is a really refreshing treat that6 I dont mind paying the remium price for, because I cannot (yet) make it at home.

Sweet but not cloying, grassy, creamy. LOVE.

It’s getting colder and colder, so I got this this morning to warm up. Unsweetened, of course! It’s yummy, though I know it’s a horrific abomination to matcha purists. Still, I like the subtle sweetness. I find matcha creamy on its own anyway, so this just goes together nicely. And it’s pretty hilarious seeing the looks on peoples’ faces as they wonder what on earth I have in my “coffee” cup.

Reminds me why I normally don’t like unflavored green tea. Too vegetative and grassy for me. It tasted funny with milk.

This is one of my favorite beverages at Starbucks. I have it pretty regularly and order it without sweetener (they use melon flavored syrup to sweeten it—up to 5 pumps in a Venti! Blech. It ruins the flavor instead of enhancing it). Lately, I’ve been having this made with soymilk.

It tastes like green tea ice cream, to me.

I love green tea ice cream.
