Well, that finishes up the cold brew of this one! Delicious!

Also, I just got the day’s mail, which included a very mustachioed swap package from VariaTEA! It’s huuugeeee and I can’t wait to dig into it!

VariaTEA

Haha I do apologize for the ridiculous (although pretty hilarious) tape. It was all I had but I am happy the teas arrived safely and hopefully you find some tasty treats inside.

Roswell Strange

Also, officially over 200 now for the first time ever… 211, to be precise.

VariaTEA

haha Yes!!

VariaTEA

It was a tad bit of a goal to push you over the 200 mark. You know have more teas than I do :P

Roswell Strange

It would have been 213, but two were blends I already had ;P

VariaTEA

I think I realized that after sealing the envelope but just got lazy to take stuff out. Hopefully you like them. Also I am sure my number will go up as soon as yours or any of the other swaps I am waiting for arrives.

Roswell Strange

Mine had 19 blends it ;P And I know you have lots on the way as well. Personally, I think I maybe had something from Keychange (Her Eight Candles sample that made her sick?) and then my RiverTea order – but nothing else on the way! Except maybe Day 4 of the 12 Days exchange which never showed up :(

VariaTEA

I don’t even recall how many teas I ended up sending because I just kept adding.

Roswell Strange

34… 32 of which I didn’t already have in my cupboard (and not counting the ones already in my cupboard, I’d only tried two others previously; Red Velvet Cake and Lime Gelato).

VariaTEA

Wait I sent your Red Velvet Cake? As in the DAVIDs one?

VariaTEA

Oh nvm. You mean the Stash one. I was wondering why I would send a tea you hated.

Roswell Strange

Definitely the Stash one – which is so much better than DT’s awful version :P

VariaTEA

I am the reverse. I actually really liked the DAVIDs

Thanks Roswell for this one.

Darn hungry steepster, eating or should I say drinking all of my tea notes.

Dry, this tea doesn’t smell like much, brewed this tea smells deliciously fruity and sweet, very red berry.

The brewed tea tastes like light white tea. I am getting notes of sweet plum and strawberries. After reading the description of this tea, I guess I could be tasting sweet red currant along with sweet lemon. Not necessarily champagne, but still good. It is a bit astringent in the aftertaste. I am very impressed with this blend.

This is definitely my favourite from Tea Desire – I’m glad you seem to have liked it.

Fjellrev

I like this one too, especially when it’s fresh. :)

Roswell Strange

I actually went into Tea Desire to buy more of this since I’m getting kinda low already, and they were all out. Apparently it’s really popular, and the other day someone came in and bought 450g of it. Just thought I’d add that here, in case either of you maybe found it funny or interesting.

Fjellrev

Glad to know it’s popular! I just wish there was a Tea Desire in Victoria, and the one in Edmonton keeps shutting down and relocating. :/

I’ve prepared this tea in two ways: hot and cold-steeped.

First off, the dry leaf is pretty. Colourful from the various dried blossoms and petals. The aroma is deliciously dark, like black currant jam.

Hot, I steeped this for not quite three minutes at approximately 70°C. The smell of the steeped tea is full on black currant. When it comes to the taste, it’s simple, yet elegant. Mostly black currant, but the delicate white tea base comes through a bit. The whole experience of this tea, from the first sip to the last, is great. It leaves a delicate aftertaste of black currant, sweetened blackcurrant. I’m sure the cornflowers are lending a sweetened touch to the currants here. The smell and the taste bring me back to my favourite beverage while I was living in Sweden: black currant sparkling mineral water. Do I ever miss that stuff.

Cold-steeped, this smells way more heavy on the white tea than the blackcurrant. I can barely (I seriously just subconsciously wrote “berry” and was about to add the “ly” to it) smell the currants at all. My previous experience with cold-steeping white teas hasn’t been so swell. They tend to turn a little bitter for me, so the aroma here kind of scared me.

But, it tastes fantastically cold-steeped as well. A perfect balance between the white tea base and the currants. Very refreshing for the hot weather we’ve been experiencing over here. Oh dear, I’m sure if I added some club soda to this, it would make a reasonable facsimile for the Ramlösa mineral water.

thank you roswell strange this was one of my teas last night, sitting on the balcony chatting with the first of our friends who came over. Sadly, the larger group didn’t leave until almost 2am so i can recall absolutely nothing about this tea except that i downed it and kept looking for me, so i’ll take that as a win haha sooooo appreciate the share Roswell lol wish i had a better note for it, but i DID really like it
