When I added the water a distinct odor wafted up out of the cup at me. The odor of…raspberries??? That’s the only thing I can call it, and nary a hint of mango OR papaya in the scent anywhere. The flavour is predominently rooibos – not my favorite to begin with – with a rather faint, sweet, generically fruity taste.

Yeah…it’s not really doing much for me I’m afraid.

A little smoky when I first opened it but it then faded away…smells like typical Rooibos. Taste pretty much like that too. I can taste the Papaya, a little. Not bad but not memorable either.

Rooibos Of The Day…

Thought I would revisit this one…Smells like Rooibos, Rose, Mango…tastes like Raspberry, Rose, Pineapple…how strange…

Not great but doable for the moment…

When I picked this up fresh, it smelled so wonderfully fruity. In the pouch, I can detect the black currant, pineapple, and a hint of papaya. It changes when you steep it though. In the cup, the scent of rose comes through, the tropical fruits disappear, and the berries dominate. I smell mostly raspberry now, and the black currant is very faint.

Now onto the taste. It’s definitely heavy on the berries. Again, it’s mainly raspberry, however, I can also detect the rose. It’s enjoyable for a rooibos but it’ll take me a while to use up my pouch since I always need to be in the mood for all rooibos in general.

I’m admittedly pretty picky about my flavoured rooibos, but I didn’t even spend long enough sipping at this to pinpoint why I didn’t like it so much. I just don’t. Blech.

The husband is happily sipping away at the rest of this as iced tea, and he doesn’t seem too disturbed, but it’s definitely not for me.
