Sipdown 62

This was not great. The ginger was a bit stale and dusty tasting. The lemongrass was muted.

Why is this sweet?! I was hoping for a nice, straightforward tea that lives up to its name. Instead I’m tasting sweetness at the front of the sip, so much like stevia that I had to check the ingredients list. Stevia isn’t on there, so I’m guessing that the sweetness is coming from the licorice root. Unfortunately I can’t shake that stevia vibe and I really really dislike stevia. Thankfully this is a sipdown and I’m counting it towards Mastress Alita’s January 2022 sipdown challenge as paired with a favorite hobby because I drank it (or tried to) while decorating my planner for the week.

I love how smooth and soothing this tea is. I got it in a tasting trio and now I’m almost out. It doesn’t take much for an 8 ounce cup. This tea works really well with honey and cuts the weird aftertaste I usually hate with honey. The only problem is the tea is kind of light. There isn’t actually any teal leaves in the tea so I cut it with my own white tea to give it some body.

This tea was interesting. The ginger taste was really strong, but thankfully I like ginger so it was enjoyable for me. I can see why some people do not like this tea, however. My mom tried it and she was not a fan. The lemongrass added a minty taste to the tea.

Another blend that I enjoyed that a lot of people do not like on here. Then again, I had a sample and I did not taste any licorice. I enjoyed the lemongrass, ginger, spearmint combo and it was refreshing, citrusy and sweet. It actually resembled the profile that I like in some oolongs. I know I am odd, but this was decent. I might think differently if it were the full size.

Shall we take this as an announcement to send you all the Iiquorice teas?

Lol lemongrass ones. I actually don’t like licorice teas, and I am very surprised I did not taste it in this one.

Evol Ving Ness

Liquorice and lemongrass are totally in the same category in my mind.

Had I only known! :)

lol They pair in so many frickin’ “Relax” or “Get Better” blends.

So I was hoping for a ginger root and lemongrass flavour here, instead I got a bit of spearmint with lots of metallic, sickly sweet licorice root. The licorice root was so strong, it tasted like someone added a bunch of artificial sweetener to the tea. Lemongrass is pretty subtle, slightly citrusy and grassy, but in the background. The ginger was fresh and spicey, but I still wish the licorice hadn’t ruined everything. It could have been a great tea if there was even a quarter of the licorice root (or none? It IS called ginger lemongrass, after all).

I can’t stop drinking this tea! Truly addicting and has a great aroma and flavor. One of the best teas I have had in a long while. I bought the single steeps and loose tea and can’t seem to get enough of it!! The tea has a wonderfully subtle sweet finish that lingers on the back of the tongue for a long time. Keeps me going back to kitchen and making more and more :)

I tasted the pyramid version.
I had only ever had loose leaf lemongrass ginger tea before I tasted Tea Forte’s pyramid version.
Both lemongrass and ginger in Tea Forte’s version tasted flat. It tasted like it had been sitting in the cupboard for some time.
Disappointing.

Thanks, Lala, for the TeaForte surprise! I don’t think this is as bad as the other reviewers do. I was initially wary of the lemongrass because while I love the scent and taste of it, when it comes to food, it instantly reminds me of thai food. So, whenever a tea tastes heavily of lemongrass, I feel like I’m drinking curry. But I didn’t get any lemongrass from this whatsoever, not even an iota, in either the flavour or scent.

What I do get, however, is mostly licorice root and ginger. As it cools, the ginger calms down and the spearmint comes out. I would have liked to have experienced more spearmint, otherwise, it’s an easy blend to drink. Doesn’t startle my tastebuds in any way at all.

Wow, this is some seriously potent stuff!

I got a tin of this ginger/lemongrass blend to replace the one I finished off yesterday. This is very strong, lots of ginger and licorice and lemon flavor. I think you could use this to strip paint off your walls. I’m not necessarily thinking I will drink this for sheer enjoyment but it will be a good thing to have around in the winter to warm up and for immune boosting benefits. I think this would have been better without the licorice and more lemongrass in the blend. I can barely taste the spearmint here but the overall effect is… medicinal, unfortuanately

Boo. Ginger Lemongrass sounds pretty appealing, but I hate that “medicinal” flavour. I’d probably be hoping that this tea was a literal mix of the two named ingredients (which, I feel, would taste pretty tasty, maybe a bit thai-ish.)

TeaBrat

Yeah me too, I didn’t realize the other ingredients would ruin it!
