From Tea Guys

Description
A fruity Keemun, China black tea, with hints of dried plum is folded with sweet blackcurrants to create a pleasing blend that is reminiscent of the sweet, blackcurrant flavored liqueur crème de cassis. Serve hot or double the amount of tea and shake with ice for a summer refreshment.

Ingredients
black tea, hibiscus, elderberry, natural flavors, currant, schizandra berry

Steeping Suggestions
*1½ tsp tea
*8 oz. boiling (212°) water
*steep for 3 ½ – 4 minutes

Iced Tea Recipe (8 servings)
¼ cup tea, 8 cups cold water, steep for 1-3 hours in fridge, sweeten to taste. Keep refrigerated and consume within 3 days.

I like cassis, one of my favourite ice cream blends is cassis with coconut. I like the mix of tart and sweet and that unique black currant taste.

I am of two minds about this tea. There is something off putting about the scent where it does occasionally remind me of what ifjuly found ( cat urine), but at times the flavour is pleasant. It has a tartness to it which is rather hibiscus like but there is also cream, a reference to the sweet and slight spiciness of cassis, and a certain depth and richness to the base. It is not as sharp as some blackcurrant teas I have had. This is probably not a tea I would buy but it is not terrible if you can avoid that occasional smell.

Thanks * JustJames* for the experience.

I don’t know whether you’ve tried Cassis & Blueberry from Lupicia, but I liked that one a lot. :)

yyz

Thanks for the recommendation! I actually haven’t tried any Lupicia, but I’ll probably attempt the phone order option someday. They have a number of teas I’d like to try someday.

Cameron B.

I’m planning on doing an order soon, so let me know if you’d like me to add anything for you.

yyz

Thanks!

OMGsrsly

Good tip, Cameron B. I’ll have to check that out when I run out of Melon Oolong! :)

i am studying for an exam that i have only had 2 classes before. i was not in the mood for surprises. i wanted this tea. everything was fine- it was exactly the same as the last time i steeped and reviewed….. except this time instead of tea with cream and sugar i got curds and whey?!!!!

WE ARE NOT AMUSED.

i refused to drink it on principle. my steeping parameters were identical. the tea was identical. it was sitting in a cool dark area in a dark glass container with a silicone seal. there are no excuses, at least none i am prepared to hear.

my response (after chucking the clumpy mess down the sink)? ‘i want butiki’.

why? because i can count on it.

tea guys, my number is dropping by 20- that’s how ticked i am. and my recommendation is changing from yes to no. if your product changes under controlled conditions in such a short period of time then you either need to a) check product quality or b) issue a statement saying as much so people aren’t surprised.

Didn’t they go out of business?

JustJames

i don’t know, but now i’m cross and i hope so. =0[

TheTeaFairy

Good luck on the exam…now go fix yourself a cup of Butiki something! :-)
