From Tea People

Higher altitude teas are considered of very superior quality than lower altitude teas. This tea comes from Poobong tea estate situated in the sleepy town of Ghoom which also boasts of having the highest railway station in India. Located near the famous Tiger Hill in the foothills of the Himalayas in Darjeeling, Poobong means the ‘valley of bamboos’ in the local language and the tea is grown at an altitude of 3000 to 5500ft.

The dry leaves have a very sweet smell and the brewed silver yellow liquor is clear (sparkling in tea nerd terms) with hints of cherry, sandalwood and a light floral aroma. A very light tea, perfect as an afternoon tea.
