This tea is great! Off the nose, I am getting a muscatel & vegetal aroma with a hint of cherry. It’s a full bodied green tea that lingers little and offers a very light briskness (0.75 out of 5, really that mild). You get a light buttery sweetness on the tongue alongside and a milder vegetal than you would get with a Sencha (the Shincha is the first month’s/Spring harvest of Sencha). I definitely recommend this tea. Not horribly complex, but a lovely tea!

Japan’s spring tea harvest (Shincha) is famous for producing the finest teas of the year. In Japan, “Shinchas” have developed into a cult following and sell out quickly. Shincha celebrations are held throughout the entire country with tea shops beautifully decorated and filled to the gills. The name of this year’s most desired tea is Kirisakura, which means “cherry blossom in fog.” Highly intense, fruity, fresh cup and fine, brilliant needle-like leaves.
I stopped by my local teahouse, Wystone’s World Teas, for dinner and my favorite Chai. Alas, they were out of chai, but I did pick up some food and this lovely Japanese Sencha. I had previously tried a Cranberry Sencha, and I liked the tea but found the cranberry flavor overpowering. This Japanese Sencha is perfect – grassy, mild, and natural in the way a green tea should be. A fellow patron of Wystone’s said this was his favorite green tea, and I can see why :)
When I bought this the only way it was described to me was smooth, and after drinking it for a while that seems to fight perfectly. It has an earthy smooth taste that can quickly become bitter (like all green teas) if over steeped.

A deliciously refreshing tea with the fragrance of the tea bushes in the spring. Fine taste with a full mouth feel. Wonderfully umami
Absolutely incredible. We had the owner of a tea estate in Japan stop in our Algonquin store. I shared a cup of this tea with him and he said it’s the best Green tea he’s had outside of Japan. :)
