Orange Blossom Oolong

Orange Blossom Oolong after lunch? Don’t mind if I do! In fact make this one a heaping tea spoon, I’m in the mood for multiple infusions. Many thanks to Amanda for this. In searching for this is seems this is a very popular combination. I knew peach oolong was, but orange? Who knew? Looking forward to this woodsy base.

So the scent of this actually reminds a bit of rooibos, though I might not being saying that if I hadn’t had a couple earlier today. It’s quite light, I do think it needs a longer steep, but it is otherwise pleasant, I get citrus and pine notes with a bit of pepper and spice toward the bottom of the cup, but I’m looking for leather ;)

Steeped for a minute and we have achieved orange liquor! Much more woody oolong in this yes I am getting the leather, but it’s just not the kind I’m looking for. There is no natural sweetness in this, no, mineral notes, just dry as my other two TeaGschwender oolong have been. Ho hum.

This is pretty good! I’m always interested in trying TeaGschwender Teas and I haven’t had too many thus far!

The color of this is nice…a gentle brown with orange hue!

I’m liking this one more and more as it has a chance to cool at room temp for just a few moments – More citrus shines thru :)

This is another tea I’ve been mildly interested in for a while, and another I got a big bag of in my recent swap with Infusin_Susan. In the bag this one smelled very orangey, with an orange aroma that was light and fresh. I wasn’t sure what to make of the aroma of the steeped tea since the combination of the orange with the roasted oolong was a little odd! I mean, roasted oolongs aren’t my favorite because of their sometimes charry, burnt, toasted flavor, but in some cases it works well.

After sipping on this one for a bit I find that I am enjoying the combination of the orange and woody, toasted oolong. I’m really not getting any florals from this, but anything described as “elusive” floral notes is going to be too elusive for my taste buds. Sometimes I can find the orange in orange teas to be overpowering, and I think I tend to like my citrus to be brighter in teas than oranges. This orange in this tea is nice and light, so it’s definitely an orange I can enjoy.

I was not impressed with this tea. It was bland, unexciting and tasted a lot like mildly flavoured water. I’ll try this again especially as I forgot to write down my impressions at the time.

Picked this up from Tin Roof Teas yesterday. On my second round now. :)
Very tasty! I’ve been meaning to try more oolong so when I had the chance to stop by Tin Roof Teas I got a bunch. This was the only flavored one I got.
This brews a nice burnt orange and smells of orange but it doesn’t cover up the oolong scent. I think this is probably a Formosa base, but I’ve only had one to compare to. Very lovely orange/citrus taste. The first cup had more, the second has some but it’s lighter. The oolong base is woodsy and smooth. Yum yum.

Note: First steeping at 2 min, second at 3 min. @ 212F

I think I prefer oolong by itself…gasp. Or apparently with peach. I don’t know what my thing is with peach, so I figured maybe I’d like orange and got this.

It’s still tasty, but I am just not getting all the things I love about oolong. It’s like they’re hidden behind the orange. It’s a bit more like orange spice than just orange though. Hopefully when it cools a bit more I can taste a bit more oolong! I feel like there’s just maybe a tiny bit of a floral flavor but I require more more more.

I almost never choose to brew a flavored tea for myself but when my sister wanted tea I took the opportunity to try this one. I am once again impressed by the blending prowess of this tea distributer.

My favorite aspect has to be the wet leaf aroma which carries the scent of flowered and candied orange peel beautifully and has a soft caramel sweetness that takes the edge off of the citrus high notes. The tea tastes like a designer creamsicle. The choice to use oolong in the blend is very wise as it adds subtlety behind the quite obvious fruit and flower notes and softens the profile considerably.

It’s hard for me to “review” flavored tea because it really comes down to: Does it taste like what it says? Is it good? TeaGschwendner has always knocked it out of the park when it comes to creative blends so the answers are: Yes and yes.

This tea gives a nice dark orange liquor (see picture and video below). Off the nose, I am getting a musky & bitter citrus aroma (the oolong is semi-fermented). This oolong provides a nice medium bodied tea that has a clean finish, lingering little (simply the woodiness of the oolong), and no briskness. It is not too bitter/astringent on the palate either. I am, like the description states, getting notes of leather and smokiness, complimenting the light woody notes on the leaf. Right off the bat, you get subtle notes of a floral orange that aren’t overwhelming at all. They compliment the oolong nicely. This is a superb blend!

Lovely fragrance — the orange blossom scent is almost overwhelming. In the cup, it retains an orange-y flavor but the oolong is there as well. A good, reasonably priced flavored oolong, and one I think would be great as an iced tea. However, I am beginning to realize that the natural flavor of oolong tea does not really need any help — it is enchanting on its own — so I may not repurchase this.

This is one of my favorite orange flavored teas. A nice earthy flavor with a hint of orange. When drinking this tea hot I add a little honey. Since it is oolong I brew the tea leaves a few more times and make iced tea for later, I prefer it unsweeted iced.

Classified as “aromatic” it does have a lovely scent, and a surprisingly okay taste.
