Lemon Meringue Rooibos

Rooibos Tea by Tealish

A colourful blend of green and red rooibos with a smooth lemon taste reminiscent of freshly baked lemon meringue pie. With a delicious zesty lemon flavour and a perfect creamy finish, this red tea infusion is a sweet and healthy treat!

I’m so glad I had a chance to try this, as I’ve been eying it up for some time now. Good thing it was just a sample though, as I couldn’t bear to finish the cup… I’m sorry Lemon Meringue Rooibos, you smell so very yummy! but ya do bad things to me :(

It is all the fault of you guys that I bought this one yesterday. I was at Whole Foods just browsing and this was there and calling to me. So of course I pull out my phone and read the reviews, and here are all of you singing the praises. Needless to say, the tea came home with me.

Sipping it this morning I can’t help but feel I’ve had this one before. It tastes identical to the Lemon Cream Rooibos from The Tea Haus, which isn’t a bad thing. I loved that tea, but found that it wasn’t one I reached for on a regular basis. I suspect that this one is going to be the same. The lemon here is delicious, and I enjoy the creaminess that comes with it. I’m not getting meringue so much as cream, but it is still yummy.

So yes, a lovely delicious tea but one that for me is unmemorable.

I cold brewed this one overnight for iced with some sugar added. The final result was a creamier version of the tea than when brewed hot, and one where there were definitely strong notes of the actual rooibos flavour. I prefer it hot, but if people like rooibos flavour then cold brew is definitely something to try.

Mmmmm. I was expecting the lemon (duh), but I was not expecting the meringue. The name is surprisingly accurate. Was a nice sweet tea, but every time I get a cup in-store they seem to brew it at the approximate temperature of the surface of the sun. I think I burnt my tastebuds. But what a way to go.

Mmmm. Been craving this for a while, glad I finally gave in.

Oversteeped this cup, sadness. Got a little too tart and a little too overwhelmingly rooibosy. Nevertheless, was a nice shot of sweet into my afternoon.

Blegh. I think I oversteeped this, as I didn’t keep a close eye on the time (it’s a rooibos!). It just didn’t mesh well for me. Honestly, the aftertaste was exactly what I wanted the tea to be – smooth, creamy and delicious. But the tea itself….meh. I’ll have to give this another try.

Cold steeped this and yum! Still not quite my cup of tea, but darn good regardless. The wife liked it, and since she’s not a fan of cold tea, this is a major win. But the tartness of the lemon mixes well with the creaminess of the meringue…I can see why she loves it.

I was in Tealish buying a Mother’s Day gift and that wall of tins of teas I’ve never tried was too tempting. I decided to explore the rooibos choices and ended up taking a bag of this home. It smelled incredible in the tin.

This smells incredibly tart and potent once steeped, but it was actually quite nice and creamy. A little bit sweet, but with just the right amount of tartness. Very flavourful but smooth and not artificial tasting or chemically. It’s a blend of red and green rooibos but I actually didn’t get any rooibos flavour at all. Just creamy lemon.

Oh, I love this one. I’m so sad it’s (nearly) gone, as I really have no reason to buy more tea for a while. But, this one might justify it. It’s a very good standby. Sweet, creamy, a little bit tart. It tastes so fresh!

This is really great cold. I cold-brewed it and it was tasty after only a couple hours but it’s been infusing continuously while I drink my giant pitcher. The lemon makes it so refreshing and the creaminess makes it feel indulgent. I feel like I am never going to drink water again.

Too good for words! Tastes just like a warm, freshly baked lemon meringue pie. Positively delicious.

Pleasant, but not my favourite rooibos. However they do do a good job at capturing their intended flavour the meringue comes out in the aftertaste especially as the tea cools. The lemon tastes like those store bought pie mixes followed by a bitter tang from lemon peel. It kind of has a retro diner/tv dinners feel.
