I’ll have to write a proper tasting note later, but I brewed this up yesterday and drank some – although it’s drinkable straight (as in, not too harshly smoky), I was disappointed at the lack of maple flavour. Drinking it the next day, it’s a bit sweeter; definitely different from a straight lapsang, but not quite what I was hoping for. Fingers crossed I can coax a bit more flavour out of it next time! Currently withholding a rating (I think I’d give it about a 60 right now, because if I just want smokiness, there are other teas I’d prefer).

I must say I am really in LOVE with Shanti’s Maple offerings but this is darned tasty, too! It’s not as strong with the maple but the Russian Caravan likeness – the Souchong – is pretty delightful! It’s done RIGHT. It has a good amount of smoke without it being obnoxious! YAY! Probably one of my faves from Tealuxe so far!

I figured i’d try some of the new teas that I recently picked up to figure out if i needed to find good homes for them or if i wanted to keep them around to love and squeeze and call them george.

I’m going to have to agree with Kittenna on this one in that there is really no maple flavouring from this. It’s a toned down smokey tea with a small bit of slightly sweet but yet not kind of thing happening. It’s not a BAD tea, but i was hoping for more of a maple taste from it. I think this one will be a good one for cooking and even for the occasional cup, though i might toss some maple syrup in there just to see how that tastes…

oh man… so glad i read my previous tasting notes. For some reason i thought i hadn’t tried this before. Turns out i had, and i pondered what adding some maple syrup to this would do. So i did. and guess what? I totally just drank the entire cup quick like a bunny. I’m in heaven! this is ssssoooooo good with the added maple syrup. Hells yeah! I’m totally dancing in my chair. I wish i’d sent you some of this terri. on it’s own it’s so not this good, but man this maple syrup in it is KICKING IT! totally just brings the blend together. woot!

oh yeah…and yes, today is work from home day so YAY for overload on tea drinking!

Edit: Not bumping the rating on this up because the tea itself isn’t delicious by itself.
