Caramellissimo from Teaopia

Caramellissimo

Black Tea by Teaopia

This dessert-like tea is a mouthwatering blend of Ceylon Black Tea, caramel pieces, hard biscuit pieces and cream caramel flavour. The sweetness of the caramel is offset by the aromatic flavour of the Black Tea, making Caramelissimo a perfectly balanced sweet tea. This tea is a great substitute or accompaniment for dessert and can be enjoyed any time of day by tea lovers and sweet tooths alike.

I’ve tried this a couple of times now. Sorry, forgot to log it ;)
Dry, this smells AMAZING! Super buttery and softly sweet, very similar to caramel popcorn.
I was pretty excited to try this. I don’t normally drink my black teas straight up, but I thought I would try it this way first and see if I liked it. I wasn’t thrilled with the first batch, which I think I oversteeped (4.5mins) as I found it quite bitter. That being said, my friend quite liked his cup, (his was steeped 4mins) and said it was only slightly bitter. He doesn’t normally drink tea, and he quite liked it, so go figure ;)

I made us both a second brew, at only 3minutes and it tasted somewhat better. I still wasn’t entirely sold on it though. Didn’t taste too much caramel and I was hoping it would be a bit sweeter.

Today, I decided to brew it for 3minutes, and add a few pieces of rock sugar to see if that would help bring out the caramel. Huge improvement. Only very slightly bitter, yet has a mildly sweet, caramel finish.

I’m enjoying it enough on it’s own now, so I think I’ll hold off on adding milk until another time and see how that tastes.

Enjoying this today in a bone china teacup, while I watch Downton Abbey. Not exactly proper English tea, but I’m enjoying it as something different. ;) A small splash of milk and a few grains of white sugar complete it. Not quite as bitter with the addition of the milk and sugar, and the caramel is really apparent today. It’s an ok tea, and I don’t love it, which is good since Teaopia is gone, and I don’t think this one is on the super list that Teavana is keeping. I just wanted a different black dessert tea. I think that I love the smell of this tea more than the actual taste. I will use up my stock of it and see if it grows on me.

ETA: I’ve bumped my rating up a notch because with the milk and sugar, it is a much nicer tea experience. I also went and double checked and sure enough, Teavana is going to keep this tea. So if you love it, you can still get it :)

One of the last black teas I have yet to try at this shop… except the ginger one, no no I won’t go there, unless I am down with sniffles!
Anyhow, this was nice. The caramel was very subtle, but firmly present. It reminded me of teas that have caramel notes to them, only more pronounced and it was more natural than the other caramel teas I’ve tried.
In astringency and boldness it was rather light. I wish the boldness of the tea had been stronger, but that is just my preference.
Overall, I quite liked it! but it wasn’t far off from my Creme Brulee and that is a rooibos. The caffeine punch was certainly missing from this black tea!! Oh well, it is what it is.

The scent of this tea is lightly buttery and sweet. There is something in the background that reminds me of burnt bread. It’s a little bit sweet (not exactly a caramel taste) and ends with a wheat-like flavor. This reminds me a bit of how the milk tastes at the bottom of a bowl of cereal. It doesn’t have the nicest finish as it’s a bit drying in the mouth. Thank you to lizeepea for swapping a sample with me!

Yum. I am a sucker for sweet black teas (Love Tea #7 being my favourite). This one didn’t disappoint! I was looking for a sweet and mild black blend to add to my morning repertoire and I found it! The caramel comes through nicely but doesn’t overwhelm, its like a seductive tease at the end of the sip. I will definitely have to stock up on this once all of the Teaopia teas start going on clearance sale!

It smells very vanilla-y. Taste-wise, there’s not too much caramel. It’s just smooth.

I was at Teaopia and wanted to buy their Bourbon Vanilla black tea but it was sold out since Teaopia is becoming Teavana soon. Anyways, I decided to get Caramelissimo since I like caramel and black tea. I brew this tea longer than recommended because I like tea strong. You can smell the sweet caramel flavour though I cant taste it that well. That’s probably because I brew it for so long. But that’s okay since I like the flavour of this tea with a splash of black tea. It has a rich creamy taste to it.

This black tea smells so good. I got it as a free gift with purchase of the tea master.

I love caramel, so I knew that I would love this tea. I added milk and sugar because it was a black tea, and that’s the only kind of tea that I would add milk to. It was amazing. It was like drinking liquid caramel. It was so delicious. I couldn’t believe how awesome it was. I know this will be a permanent in my collection. I was so happy to get to try it out. Anytime I have a sweet craving, I’m grabbing this tea.

Okay, so this tea I’ve had a love/hate relationship with. I loved it the first time I made it, but since that time, I haven’t liked it at all! I’ve tried and tried, but it just tastes wrong to me now. I wonder if the leaves have gone stale or something. It’s bitter and not smooth and I don’t really taste the caramel flavour at all anymore.
Poor caramel tea… I loved you, but not anymore…

This is a comfort tea. It is warm and cozy, and makes me want to cuddle up with a blanket and a good book or movie. The flavour isn’t all that complex…it is just a nice sweet tea. I add milk (sometimes Vanilla Silk coffee creamer) and a little sugar even though this is a sweet tea. I can’t say it tastes caramel-y, but it does taste sweet and dessert-like.

This was fine as a tea. Not mourning the loss like I do a couple other Teaopia blends, but it’s definitely a nice afternoon tea time tea. Not as indulgent as the name would suggest, perhaps.

It’s like a candy bar in a cup of tea. So tasty, and so comforting. Just the right amount of caramel to satisfy the sweet tooth. Highly recommend.

not really getting much of a sweet or caramel flavour, more just a nice black tea with a bit of the edge taken off. would be great as an early morning tea.

I really like this tea in the morning with a little bit of milk in it. The hazelnut smell is just awesome!
