Amaretto Cherry

Black Tea by Teaopia

Amaretto Cherry is made up of Ceylon Black Tea, cherry bits and almond pieces. These natural ingredients combine to create an almond-liquor flavour with a hint of cherry to liven up the pallet. This flavoured Black Tea is great to drink at night and will be enjoyed by Black Tea lovers who appreciate the nutty and liquor-like flavours that emanate from this tea.

Indigobloom Thank you for this sample!
I am loving it this morning as my wake up tea!
A really excellent cherry amaretto flavor and the cherry is well done – not medicinal!
I do wish it re-steeped a little better but on flavored tea I find the resteepability to only be around 50% regardless of what company the tea comes from so its not a shock or anything that it does not resteep too well.
The flavor in the resteep is there but very thin.
Regardless – one of the best cherry amaretto flavors I have come across and I do love cherry amaretto teas!
Thanks again indigobloom!

Mmmmm this is much better than I recall! I avoided this tea for months thinking it was terrible, and tastelesss… until today when I finally decided to give it a second chance— So glad that I did :)
I’m quite pleased that the flavour hasn’t been leeched out here(flavour that IS there, I have no idea what got that idea in my head), as I bought this one well over 18 months ago. Perhaps my palate has evolved after all.
The cherry is very mild, overtaken somewhat by the almond. Also, it doesn’t do to understeep, I have discovered— part of what I was doing incorrectly when I first purchased it.

Oh and errrr, unfortunately we had no milk left in the house, and so I was left to use my almond milk… but the milk was sweetened so now all I taste is the almond, and none of the cherry. Oh well, something to look forward to. Jessie, it looks like you and I had similar dilemmas today! :)
That said, this rating may increase. Fingers crossed.

I bought this tea mainly because the smell of it was very familiar. Later I realized that the smell reminded me of a type of cookie I used to eat in Holland, a “bitterkoekje” to be precise, much like the Italian amaretto cookie, but better. Now, every time I have a cup of this tea, or simply get a whiff of it, I crave these cookies.

The smell is a very good indication of the flavour, meaning you can really taste the almond-ness of it. There’s also a hint of cherry, which is a nice touch I find. Maybe it’s because this tea bring back fond memories of my childhood, but I really enjoy drinking it and as of now have only about one teaspoon remaining.

Unf. This one is good. I bought this one as a little sampler pack for $1 at the Metrotown Teaopia. The smell of cherry is very strong from the moment you open the package, and it’s just as strong brewed as a tea.

Overall the flavor is bold. I’d almost compare it to coffee (which I don’t drink) in that it tastes as strong as it smells. Not sure if I’ll be picking up a little more of this (also not sure if I can since Teaopia is converting to Teavana) but not a bad tea at all.

I love amaretto anything, so it begs to reason that I like this tea. I should consider picking some of this up too. I’ve been on a bit of a DAVIDs kick, as I generally prefer them over Teaopia, but Teaopia has some nice smooth blends.

More almond flavour than cherry, but still a great tasting tea! Perfect with a little bit of honey.

So I stopped into Teaopia to get a new strainer as I suspect the cats have appropriated mine for some scheme, and ended up picking up some of this tea.

Honestly, wow almonds. The scent is nearly overpowering. I get a bit of the cherry undernote but I think it’s because i’m looking for it, the boyfriend says it just smells like almond to him. It comes through as slightly cough drop in the dry tea, but seems to mellow out after steeping.

First sip was slightly disappointing I will admit, I expected an almond style kick in the pants and found… black tea. The scent was still very much almond so I did a lot of deep inhaling while sipping to get the flavour to come through more. However, as my first cup cooled the cherry started to come forward, as well as the almond, causing the tea to balance quite wonderfully.

I’m wishing I had a larger bag of this now, as it’s really a treat to drink. The heavy scent mellows into a lovely cup of tea that’s not too sweet. I find I can enjoy this all day without it feeling too dessertish.

I went to Teaopia yesterday to pick up some Irish Breakfast for Cooking Simplicitea, and when I smelled this tea, I had to get some – the smell is intoxicatingly good.

Once steeped, though, you can smell mostly the earthy black tea instead of the incredibly sweet cherry flavour, and the taste is only a subtle finish on an otherwise average black tea. It’s good, but the smell is so amazing that the taste – the important part – is a huge let-down. I’ll finish my bag, but I doubt I’ll be buying this again.

Better the second time around – made a pot of it this morning. Still a little bit disappointed by the huge void between smell and taste, but this morning the sweetness of the smell almost turned me off, so I appreciated the earthy tones and lack of overpowering sweetness a lot more than the first time.

I get a little bit cherry at first sip but the dominant flavouring is amaretto. The scent is stronger than the flavouring. The tea underneath has a touch of astringency and has a touch of cocoa in it. Another tea to miss from Teopia.

Not a fan of Amaretto or cherries at all but I tried this tea anyway. I didn’t enjoy the flavour at all, but I can see how others may enjoy it.

One of my all-time favourite teas! Now that Teaopia has been bought by Teavana, I wonder if they can replace it?

Every time I smell this tea I can’t turn it down; it smells like heaven and fluffy almond cookies! I wish the cherry would come through a little stronger, but even so, as it is, it is absolutely wonderful.

Also, if you ever get a chance to make this into a latté… One way I like it (and WARNING: this is SUH-WEET!) is with a shot of vanilla, made with vanilla soy milk! Ooh-la-la! Magnificent! Perfect on chilly autumn or winter days! A sweet pick me up!

A wonderful delight! No added sweetner required. This would be wonderful as a latte! Yummy!
