Oh hey this is amazing!! not exactly what I was after… but really good nonetheless!
With milk and sugar, it was just like banana pudding, with a hint of chocolate for good measure. Now, this would have garnered a rating of 94 if it was like that on it’s own, but I had to add TWO packets of sugar to get that flavour. I never add that much sugar…
And thus, sadly, I must downgrade the rating here.
Still, I am tempted to buy some. I’m on a dessert tea kick lately, I dunno what’s gotten into me. It wasn’t long ago that I hadn’t touched a dessert tea in months! Ah well.
Now, I am on the hunt for a great chocolate herbal tea (rooibos or otherwise).
Trouble is, I don’t want any other notes besides chocolate to mess with it. That means no mint, no spice… or banana. I just want CHOCOLATE! You’d think that wouldn’t be so hard to find. I’ve had no issues finding caffeinated chocolate teas… le sighs
Stay tuned for my note about my teaware purchase!! YAY!!!

jessiwrites sent me this treasure :)

The smell is so delicious! Gah banana and chocolate. And not a hint of rooibos! Ahh yes. I would actually consider keeping this around in smaller amounts.

I’m definitely getting banana and chocolate, but I don’t think I’m really tasting any nuttiness. Perhaps an ever so subtle hint of coconut in the background, but I’m not completely sure.

Teavana now sells this tea. I had to buy two more ounces after I saw they put it back on the website months after they removed it (also, free shipping!).

The dry leaf looks pretty: the rooibos is browned because of the chocolate, of which there are tiny pieces, and there are rather large pieces of banana walnut. The aroma smells strongly of banana and chocolate. Even though I can tell that some flavoring was added, I love it! This is one tea I love smelling from the tin every time I brew a cup. The liquor is dark red. The flavor is medium-bodied. I can’t taste the rooibos (or the nuts, come to think of it); the chocolate and banana notes overshadow the base, but this is OK by me. In general, I love the combination of banana and chocolate. This is a delicious chocolate-banana tea. Perfect for dessert.

This tea smells like banana pie! I’ve never had banana tea before. This one has a nice flavour, like chocolate/ banana pie.

Mitch sent me a generous sample of this, since I am always interested in trying new rooibos teas that maybe don’t taste medicinal.

This one is really good! I love chocolate and banana, but I am not a huge fan of chocolate in general, and this has a nice balance. The nuts are perfect, too. I added a bit of Forever Nuts for my third steep, and it was fantastic.

I am so glad I got to try this! Thanks, Mitch!

This is the other tea I got from KiwiDelight, because after I got some from Mitch, I couldn’t resist another attempt.

This tea is quite delicious, banana-y and chocolate-y, but not overly sweet and also not medicinal-rooibos-y. I am just having my third infusion now, and I’m a fan. I haven’t tried too many Teavana teas, but so far, I am enjoying their caffeine-free selections.

This… tea.
This damn tea.
…IS DELICIOUS!!!
And there’s SOOOO many ways to enjoy it!!
1) Brewed on its own. A lovely rooibos with mild chocolate tones.
2) Amp it up with some sugar and milk. The sugar helps bring out the flavours.
3) Brew it in warm milk, DELICIOUS!!
4) Brew it in 4 oz of water. Pour it into a shaker with 4 oz. milk and ice to make an iced latte. Tastes like a mild milkshake.
5) Mix with steamed milk and a few pumps of chocolate to make the best latte you will ever experience in your life.

Thanks, KiwiDelight, for this one!

Dry leaf smell: Whoa, that’s bananas! The steeped smell is much mellower & that signature rooibos aroma takes the forefront.

Tried the first half of the cup without any additives. With small sips, the banana flavor is prominent. Mmm, like over-ripe bananas or home baked banana bread. When I took a big sip, I didn’t pick-up on it as much, though. I’m odd like that, sometimes.

Read the other reviews and decided to add some rock sugar (2 little pieces) for the second half. Wow, now it really tastes like bananas! And there’s a chocolate taste at the end of the sip. Reminds me more of a chocolate-covered frozen banana than a mudslide… But that’s a good thing b/c it’s quite delicious!

Sipdown! Finished off the last of my sample from KiwiDelight today.
This tea is very bananas and a little nutty (heh, I made a pun and I didn’t even mean to). Still not sure why they call it ‘Mudslide’ since that makes me think of Kahlua, Bailey’s, and cream (none of which taste like this tea), but it’s tasty!

hmmmm…. Im not too sure about this one.

Tastes very similar to Banana Nut Bread from DT. But the thing Im having trouble with is that I cant taste the chocolate. All i can taste is the banana and the walnut. Anyway, I was hoping for more of a rich chocolate banana flavor. Regardless, it still tastes good. Not great. Its a nice fall tea but I don’t think I would re-purchase this.
Oh well its still a nice tea.
EDIT- Im not going to rate some of my teas. Mostly because I cant decide on where the rating will stand. And especially with this one I am really not sure how much I like it.

I really like chocolate. And I really like bananas. If you like the combination of these two things, then you’ll definitely like Mudslide.

I usually prepare it with a little sugar and milk, but that’s actually how I like all my tea. I definitely recommend this one though.

I quite liked this tea. I had tried a non-flavoured rooibos before & didn’t like it, so wasn’t prepared for the delight which my taste buds experienced with the first sip! The banana flavour is the most prevalent, followed by chocolate. I don’t really taste the walnut or coconut. I prepared with 1 tbsp of 2% milk & 2 tsp of white, granulated sugar. Two thumbs up (or should I say two pinky’s up?) from me!
EDIT: I’ve updated my rating to reflect that I no longer enjoy this tea. I don’t know what happened, but I really can’t stand it now – neither the scent nor the flavour! :(

I’m having issues with the tasting notes box. I didn’t steep it for 7.5 minutes; I steeped it for 6 minutes.

The smell of the tea is quite nice. Real chocolate-banana smell. Kind of like a banana split from DQ if you got it with no strawberries, no pineapple and no ice cream.
I’m trying this one milk-and-sugar because I’m feeling poorly and want an extra treat.
Steeped and in my mug it has more of a baked goods smell. I baked banana chocolate chip mini muffins using a coffee cake recipe i found online for a road trip and this smell reminds me quite a bit of that one. It’s amazing how heat can change a smell.
I don’t like the taste at all. The banana bits taste alcoholic and the chocolate comes through more as a slime on the roof of my mouth than it does as a taste. The smell is lovely; the taste leaves a lot to be desired. And oddly it doesn’t seem to pair well with the milk and sugar that I added, a problem with rooibos that I’ve never had.
I haven’t been on Steepster in months (moved to a new town, been busy, been summer, got pregnant), and it makes me a little sad that this tea marks my return to reviewing teas. I mean, it’s drinkable, but I won’t be reaching for this orange bag of tea to satisfy my tea cravings until my other flavoured rooibos are gone. Le sad.

Sitting: at my desk in the kitchen (taking a break from work) with the window wide open to let the cool air in.
Wearing: slippers and a zip-up sweater.

I couldn’t drink this tea. I don’t particularly like strong rooibos teas – once in awhile, but not often – and I really didn’t like this one. I may have brewed it a bit weak, but I wouldn’t want to try it again. I found the banana to be overpoweringly cloying, and the chocolate didn’t mesh well in it. Additionally, the walnuts in it gave me a bit of a headache (but I think I’m mildly allergic, so that was to be expected).

Makes a delicious, life changing latte when mixed with frothy soymilk. Tastes like banana bread fresh out of the oven. I make a very light version with unsweetened soymilk and twin sugar “brown sugar flavour”, and it rocks, 1/2 soymilk, 1/2 tea. It’s just magical.

I really enjoy this tea. All the flavorings come through (banana, walnut, and chocolate) to disguise the nasty red rooibos flavor. I am generally not a fan of red rooibos unless it’s dessert-flavored and I really like this one.

I really like this tea:) It reminds me of a nice warm banana bread! It is wonderful especially on the cold nights in winter that are rapidly approaching here. I enjoy this tea enough to experiment with it and I have actually cross – brewed this tea with one teaspoon of Mudslide and then a 1/4 teaspoon of " forever nuts" by David’s Tea together. It turns it into a lovely warm banana nut bread. :)
