Rosy Earl Grey

Black Green Blend by Teas Etc

This inspiring blend of Jasmine green tea, Earl Grey black tea and rose petals has become one of our most popular.

While I’d like to take all the credit for creating the blend, I can’t. On a quest to find some consistency, a customer from NYC, Beverly, called with a request that I make up something with the combination of these ingredients. A conversation or two later our Rosy Earl Grey, (aka Beverly’s Blend), was unveiled.

Aromatic with a smooth floral character Rosy Earl Grey is tasty hot or iced.

Ingredients: Jasmine green tea, black tea, flavor, rose petals

Origin of Rosy Earl Grey : Sri Lanka, China

I’m really liking these florally teas, lately! I think this is a nice twist on your standard Earl Grey. The rose and jasmine really complement the bergamot. It’s like drinking a lovely soup bouquet. So, If you don’t like flowers in your tea, I’d say steer clear. :)

Also, it’s kind of heavy on the rose and reminds me of Turkish Delight.

This is another reliable, forgiving “great to drink at work” tea! I’ve been drinking this a lot. I brought a big bag as my “stash” to keep at work and it’s become very popular with my co-workers too. It smells so wonderful, brews up beautifully in the water from our water cooler’s hot water spigot and it can handle oversteeping!

It’s also a good “palate-cleanser” after a heavy lunch. Very refreshing and sweet—like a rainshower in the summer surrounded by hothouse blooms.

I think I’m liking this again. The flowers taste sweet—like candied rose and sugared jasmine petals. They’re not overpowering at all, this time. Maybe last time I used too much leaf?

Anyway, this still remains my favorite Earl Grey incarnation! I’m bumping up the score.

Lowering the scale a bit on this one. I think I oversteeped it or something because the rose flavor was just a little too overpowering for me, this time.

But maybe my tastes have changed.

I usually make a cup of earl grey, and add some rose syrup. Rose is my favorite flavor. Thought this would be a bit easier. It was awful. After brewing, it smelled like rose soap and tasted like rose soap. Definitely a strong soapy flavor. Yuck.

Since this was only the second Earl Grey I’ve ever tried after twinings, all I can say is it was very different..Im not a floral tea scent drinker and I could smell the rose pedals so that turned me off, but I imagine its a very good tea if you are partial to floral scented teas since Teas ect teas win awards.

I still have to make up my mind about this. It reminds me of cookies from the Greek bakery in my neighborhood. Hmm ….
