Oh silly me, expecting my insanely high expectations of What An Earl Grey Should Be to be met or exceeded in Sin City. This earl grey sounded promising (no flowers or weird shiz), smelled average (if not slightly strange) and tasted even worse (perhaps the tea base). Yep.

Just alright, my first earl grey and I’m very not impressed. Anyone have something better??

Thanks to T.C. for this in our swap.

This is an amazingly average Earl Grey. Not too strong. Not too weak. Nothing offensive. Just very average. Maybe slightly better than my go-to Earl Grey, which is the Stash double bergamot. Blah.

This is an amazingly inoffensive variety of Earl Grey. It’s pretty light on the bergamot, which suits my purposes perfectly. I never drink this particular variety hot. I always make iced tea with it. It’s hearty enough to stand a little sweetening with Teavana’s German Rock Sugar. It’s also not too floral to mix with lemonade, if you’re a big Arnold Palmer fan like I am.

Always yummy, always smells great, always puts a smile on my face. No matter what I do to this, it’s good! If only it were a boy…. :-)

So I found a bit of this in the back of the cupboard, I was sure I had already finished this up. Well, nope. So I made this iced, since it is still mid to upper 90’s here in NorCal. Iced Earl Grey? Not so bad, the floraly citrusy notes are very crisp, crisper than in hot EG. Still a great aroma, still refreshing.

There is not much left, so I’m going on a Iced EG spree until this is gone. I got this tea ages ago, it can’t be good for much longer.

I’ve been on a mission to clean my tea cupboard, because I went on quite a few tea shopping sprees. I am trying to refrain from buying any more until I empty my cupboard some, but that means my “wanted” list keeps growing longer! It’s a vicious cycle…. :-)

Not the best Earl Grey I’ve had, but it’s the best among what’s available in my local area. It’s also the cheapest thing on Teavana’s menu, making it a good daily drinker for patrons of the store. I typically use this tea as filler to get the 10% discount that Teavana offers when you buy a pound or more.

This tea makes me sad. Sad that I bought so much of it. Its hard when you only have access to tea by shopping on-line and you have to take that risk that your click of the button will be proven worthwhile.

It is an o.k. tea. A basic Earl Grey I suppose. I find something in it to be too overpowering than others I’ve tried since. It isn’t the bergamont scent either so it must be something in the tea leaves themselves. The only way I can save this is by adding quite a bit of milk and some sugar (or agave nectar).

I still brew up a pot from time to time mainly so I don’t feel wasteful and if I get the milk/sugar ratio right I can raise my interest in it from blah to well, at least it is a warm beverage.

Not a particularly great value for the price, but it does brew a fine cup of iced tea. Good balance of bergamot, too

A dark and rich flavor. I use it in blends as a base to concoct wild new flavors. It certainly does it’s job.

I like this tea. Mostly an after dinner tea.

Certainly not the best Earl Grey I’ve had, but it is the only Earl Grey that I have. I do find the teavana brewing suggestions to not make any sort of drinkable cup, and brew with my usual earl Grey timings and temps, boiling for four minutes, and it almost tastes like a normal EG cup

Bland. Conventional. Pedestrian. A first-class earl grey should be an important staple that every good large tea company should strive for. Teavana with their premium prices and the self-important feel that their brand portrays falls flat here. This is a tea that is a slight step above your average teabag earl grey, but far from the better loose leaf earl greys out there. The flavors lack punch. There is no vibrancy. It’s drinkable, yet dull. Teavana should do better, and you the consumer can do better. Move along.

This earl grey doesn’t make me want to jump up and down with excitement, but it’s classic and smooth — and my go to for just having a bit of black tea in the morning or afternoon. I could drink bucketsful, which means I’m not savoring every sip, but just enjoying the overall flavor.

I was afraid the taste would be too strong after smelling the dry leaves, but it turned out much smoother and tastier than I expected.

Took this to class with me this morning. The chef-instructor brought in doughnuts… This was an excellent accidental pairing with my lemon curd bismark. (My favorite of all doughnuts.)

On a different note, I’ve down-graded this rating a bit. This is a good tea, but since trying it for the first time, I’ve found much better Earl Greys. I’m grading on a curve, I guess.

LOVE THIS. I tend to steep a little longer on this one tho. Good Black Tea with Bergamot undertones. Nice dark color. Light scent of tea and very slight smell of citrus.

Backlogging several lovely cups from this past weekend! Lovely Bergamot!

Iced is nice, too. Backlogging

A little pale…2 tsp of loose leaf for my liking/strength.

3 cups – as is. Tremendous if steeped a little longer – that is if you like it stronger like me!

Drank Friday Morning…forgot to log…yum
