So this generous sample came from Ze_Teamaker – thank you!

I am enjoying this today like a chai, it’s nice with soymilk and some turbinado sugar. I’m getting a nice bit of ginger, cardamom and a bit of coconut, it’s good that these ingredients cover up the funky flavor that some rooibos blends can have. Overall this was fairly enjoyable and makes for a nice dessert tea.

I’m finally finishing this off. It’s a pretty yummy rooibos and I would consider picking some more of this up but won’t set foot in a Teavana store. lol! :)

This one courtesy of the quiet life!!! (you should see the adorable little tins she put the samples in!!!)

This is delicious!!!! It tastes to me like cinnamony amaretto. I didn’t get a lot of ginger, coconut, or pepper and the rooibos was just playing backup for depth. I think it was the nicest caffeine free tea I’ve ever had!

Y’know, a lot of the blends look really good from Teavana, but I’ve heard that the sales associates are really pushy, and the one that is near me is in a mall. I just can’t abide by malls. I think I will have to order online so I can make my choices in a calm, cool and collected manner :)

Many thanks to Meghann M for this tisane!!!!

I had a Zingiber Ginger Coconut fix last night! Yummy Amaretto Goodness :) I made it nice and strong (3 heaping tsp tisane for 16 oz water and steeped 6 minutes) so I could add a squeeze of agave nectar and a splash of half and half. Very delicious and a great shot of variety after being in my evening Vanilla Comoro Chocolate Chai repeating cycle lately :) It was great with a little shortbread – what a rich and decadent night!

Thanks once again Meghann!!!! I have a Teavana a 10 minute drive from my house and am scared to death to go in there! (the mall is a very frightening concept to me yet alone the Pushy Salesperson-ness!) but I really love this one and was sooooo happy to have a nice pot of it. Ahhhhh…happy sigh! Maybe I’ll get up my gumption and go…maybe!!!

Mmmmm! Tonight’s tea tasted of Amaretto with apple and ginger. A teaspoon of honey sweetened it. Perfect on this chilly rainy night – especially the ginger was welcome! I am sad that the sample the quiet life sent is now all gone! I plan to pick some of this up in the Fall for future chilly rainy nights where a caffeine free tea is welcome.

Gift from SoccerMom, a while ago, and I am just getting to it! (One would find it hard to believe but I am behind on tea drinking!)

Disappointed I wasn’t getting more coconut or ginger flavor as I enjoy both flavors. I am pleased it is reminiscent of amaretto (I adore Disaronno) – which is why it ended up on my shopping list to try in the first place.

I think it would need to be steeped longer to get more of a kick from it.

Overall a very enjoyable and only slightly rooibossy tea, but not one I think I will keep in stock, but I might pick up occasionally.

This is another one of those blends that taste good as long as you don’t know what they’re supposed to be. The description messes with your head, creating a pre-conceived notion of what to expect from the flavour, and that’s where things go a bit pear-shaped.

So let’s pretend that I received this blend in an unmarked tin. No name, no description. My nose tells me that this is likely a rooibos blend with almonds in it. The rooibos isn’t front and center, it mostly provides a foundation on which the tea’s flavour is built. There is a very clear amaretto fragrance, and since that fragrance isn’t exactly subtle, it is the one that really stands out. Without knowing otherwise, I probably couldn’t tell you what else is in here. I might guess at ginger, if my nose were feeling particularly on point that day.

Steeped, the tea tastes like amaretto rooibos. It’s got a little bit of heft to it and makes a nice dessert tea. But wait! What’s this? The tail end of the sip has a bit of a bite to it! And, wait for it, when it hits your stomach, a delicious warmth spreads outward from the point of contact. But…how? I don’t understand. Almonds alone wouldn’t have this effect.

At this point, let’s put an end to our little flight of fantasy and have a look at the ingredients. Why, look! There’s ginger in here, and coconut, and black pepper, and all sorts! The ginger and black pepper would explain that bit of kick and the warmth. It’s interesting that I can’t actually taste them, but I can feel the effect they have and appreciate their contribution to the blend. Noticeably absent, though, to my nose and tastebuds, is the coconut. I think I’d like to add some coconut flakes and grated ginger to my next steep, just to see if it helps this blend realise its full potential or if it just messes everything up. =)

Tea amount: 1 level tbsp
Water amount: 16oz./~475mL
Additives: ~1 level tbsp Demerara sugar
Caffeine: None
Dry mouth factor: 0/10

Wow is this good! Thank you Jaime for sharing this with me. It is like drinking an exotic cup of cider. The mouthfeel is very similar to apple cider. I got loads of sweet coconut and a nice bite of ginger. The red rooibos isn’t as notable in this as in other rooibos blends I’ve tried. This is magnificent. I think this is the best non-hibiscus tea decaf tea I’ve had of late. Just finished a 16oz mug and can’t wait til the water is done to have some more!

Enjoying another mug full before bed. I have enough for one more cup later this week. Thank you Jaime for sending me such a wonderful tea. I will definitely be going to Teavana for some of this next week!

Forgot I had this in my cupboard. I love love love this tea, which surprised me at first as it is a rooibos blend. It just has so much wonderful coconut and amaretto flavor! I will savor this tea.

Enjoying the last cup from the sample Jaime sent me. Headed up to the mall today, so will definitely stop in to get a few ounces of this. I really enjoy all of the flavors in this tea/tisane. Such a great anytime drink!

The Teavana used car salesmanship really irks me but I have to admit that I’ve been really impressed with a few blends I recently received as a gift. This “red tea” may quickly become a favorite.

This is really fragrant. In fact, you can smell the ginger and cardamom through the sealed pouch. There’s a nice balance between the spices and coconut.

Prepared, this takes on a really unusual character. I expected it to be hot and spicy like a chai. What you first notice is the creamy fullness of the coconut oil, then a brief flash of heat from the ginger but then this ends with an interesting, lingering apple and cardamom flavor. It’s really cooling and calming.

Autumn Hearth

I have to apologize (mainly to myself) for not logging or even drinking much tea lately. I’m in a funk it seems, a combination of the heat, a kitchen that never manages to get fully clean, depression and working a few days at Teavana. I just haven’t felt like brewing most of July, which is a shame as I have a bunch of new Verdant Teas waiting to be tried :( Hopefully August will be a better month, but I’m not off to a good start, only drinking at work.

So this used to be one of my favorite dessert teas at work, I never bought any (heck I never bought any tea from work unless it was on sale) so I haven’t had any since April if not before then. Apparently it is now being promoted as a “top tier blend” with Maharaja Chai Oolong (another old favorite of mine). Our AGM made it for me with sugar of course, but it was good. Wafting the two teas together smells divine and it would be hard for any chai lover to resist, which is the point, its suggested for those that already love the Samurai/Ayurvedic combo. There are other suggestions for the samples that I am apparently going to have to learn, but that’s one I had several guests already coming back for, having smelled it early in the week. Sigh. Such mixed feelings, but tis a job.

A sample from denisend. The temperatures in Kansas City just jumped from 70’s to 90’s, so the last thing I can think about are hot teas – I made up a batch of this iced. I can taste ginger, creamy coconut, and a background fruitiness. Seeing all the giant cardamon pods in the mix just thrilled me, the spiciness is great. I’m looking forward to trying this hot!

Another delish cuppa!!! So very very good! Everything mingles together quite nicely and the spice isn’t overwhelming which makes this perfect for anytime of the day. Another staple in my cupboard. And another kudos to Meghann for the sample. Yummers!!

Picked this one up on a recent trip into the mall. I guess it’s part of the interesting dichotomy about Teavana is you switch a few ingredients…and you have a different Teavana tea. For instance take the Cha Yen Thai. Subtract the black tea and pineapple and add apple and voila Zinginber Ginger. However this is not a bad thing cause the Cha Yen is hands down one of my favorite teas. Enjoying it after father’s day lunch with my wife and daughter. MMMMM baby back ribs and tea. Yes a good day indeed.

I hate ginger. Yes, I do. Hate it. Had I known this tea had ginger in it, I wouldn’t have bought it.

Why’d I buy it? The salesgirl took the lid off the tin, fanned the smell towards me, and told me it tasted like a snickerdoodle. Yes, thank you, I’ll have 2 oz.

And it does taste like a snickerdoodle. I don’t notice the ginger at all. It’s creamy and coconutty and lovely. A very nice tea after a long day of work. I brew it for 10 minutes.

Sadly, this is the last I have of this tea. It’s delicious, slightly sweet, and coconutty with just the right amount of ginger. I’m getting just a hint of cocoa this time around…delicious!

Next time I’m at a Teavana, I’ll be picking some more up. Until then, I’ve plenty of other teas to drink up!

I’ve noticed a few people mention the pushiness of the Teavana Sales Associates, and not saying I don’t believe them, (Generally have had my fair share of pushy associates.) But the 5 times that I’ve been to my nearest Teavana’s the SA’s have been friendly, helpful but not pushy. Easygoing in the 3 I’ve met so far too.

So far, the Zingiber Ginger is my favorite tea from Teavana’s. I’m looking forward to getting more, because I am almost out! In fact I am brewing some right now, wanted to try adjusting steep time to see if more flavor kicks in, I think I’ll try for 8 minutes………
Also going to either try and grab the water before it beeps, (variable temp elec kettle.) or let it come down a bit before pouring……
OK, back. Results: It tastes creamier, like not quite as blunt, which is not bad, but can’t say I really like it that way, unless I am drinking it instead of hot cocoa. Ahh well.

Ottawa Teas gifted me this one! Yay! :D I really love this blend. It’s spicy and sweet, with just a hint of fruitiness. It’s like chai meats a gingerbread cookie. I imagine this would be good sweetened, but I tend not to do that. This will be great encouragement to stick with my end-of semester work and not give up even though it’s Friday afternoon and I want to relax. Less than 10 pages more to read! Am loving this as an after dinner dessert tea. I think I could drink many mugfulls of this during the winter.

This mildly spicy, but smooth tasting brew sits easy on the palate and the aroma pleases the senses.

The leaves are clearly a mound of red rooibos. Large coconut chips, ginger bits, apple chunks, black peppercorns and almonds create a menagerie of fun colorful activity. The dry aroma carries the peppercorn, cinnamon and cardamom rather nicely.

Once brewed the liquor shows nice brilliant red and gives a sweeter aroma with notes of spiciness and hints at a milky texture. The flavor comes out slightly nutty with heavy notes of spiciness and a touch of coconut sweetness.

I would recommend this tea if you enjoy chai.

I got this in a swap with Lori. Thanks Lori! Like JacquelineM mentioned this is totally like amaretto, Yea! I had a cup last night and this morning I mixed a little with my morning mate for a strong cup. It’s quite enjoyable but it is sweet so if your not into sweet rooibos you might not like this cuppa but the flavors are great I taste the coconut and a hint, a very slight hint of ginger I’m not picking up on the cardamom but I think I might also taste the apple. It’s a nice change! Thanks Lori and what a generous sample!

Update: I was watching TV and all of a sudden it hit me I need tea! I thought for a minute about it and said oh, oh, oh I want Zingiber Ginger Coconut because I wanted something that tasted like a desert and this is totally like and Amaretto flavored dessert YUM!

Backlogging: This is so yummy it’s so Amaretto tasting and I LOVE IT. It was a nice one especially after the horrible matcha experience I had earlier. Bumping this up a bit because I like it so much after the sample Lori sent that I went and bought more.

One of the first teavana teas that I loved. I think I may have to place an order with them just for this. The flavor was amazing. The berry and ginger definitely outshined the coconut. Thanks Kallieboo! for sharing. Second steep was still ginger overload which was nice.

Received a lovely sample of this from Ian! Thanks!

I haven’t had rooibos in a while, as it’s not my favorite, but I was craving it tonight so I decided to brew this. It’s okay. I really like coconut, but I don’t do well with spice, so I wish there wasn’t such a strong ginger taste. It’s decent, but not something I’d buy.

I made this last night and it was a little weak so tonight I used 3 heaping teaspoons to 12 ounces water. After steeping for 6 minutes the water was at 187 and I added 2-1/2 heaping tsp. White Ayurvedic Chai (also Teavana) and steeped for 2-1/2 minutes more. Added agave and milk with just a teeny bit of half and half. This is the dessert tea I’ve been looking for!

This is my last cuppa the day. I wanted something sweet, soothing, yummy, & here it is! I LOVE love LOVE Ginger, & I also love coconut, & in this tea I get a little of both, & some almond. I always expect more of a Chai taste (& as they’ll tell you at Teavana, it’s also great mixed with Chai). Of course, if I really wanted Chai, I could have brewed some of this. This has some Rooibos, which I usually don’t care for much, but in this tea, I’ll make an exception. I use 1 T (sometimes more)per cup of hot water, leaving a little room at the top for some almond or coconut milk, & some stevia. I wanted a treat, & it is!

This will be my final cup of the day. I’m really trying to hang in there for the end of the baseball game, but like a little kid, my eyes are drooping. We’re still leading, heading into the 7th inning…

Although the main thing I taste is the stevia I added, I can feel the ginger & a creamy texture that I love.

One of the reasons I’m not a big fan of rooibos is that some of it always seems to make it into my cup, & then it gets stuck to my tonsils. I use a finum basket, but somehow it still happens. It’s probably user error, as in I probably miss the basket a little, but I even rinse the cup out after I measured out the tea, just in case. Still, I can feel a piece of rooibos in my throat. eackck!
