This tea smells wonderful! Even when you brew it it smells good. It’s a sweet and floral scent. The flavor though I think is a little weird. I’m not a huge fan of green rooibos because I feel it tastes a bit like hay. Not that I would know what hay tastes like but it tastes like the smell. (Just had to put that out there. Didn’t want anyone thinking I was eating hay).

Minus the hay taste it is quite good. I love the tropical notes of mango. Also Love the rose buds in the dry tea! So pretty! Good hot or cold. I’m drinking mine lukewarm at the moment.

This tea is okay… The dry leaf is nice, though the cut-off rosebuds remind me of Morticia Addams cutting off the roses in the Addams Family movie. The taste is another thing. It definitely tastes tropical… More of an upscale tropical-type feeling though, not the normal “tropical punch” flavor. The sweet, red cold medicine flavor of the rooibos comes through, and its fine, but probably not a blend I’d buy again. I’ll save it for when I’m sick and can appreciate it.

Thank you SoccerMom for this gift.

I have a head cold and have slept through the past two days entirely. I hate wasting vacation to sleep but I didn’t have much choice. As a result I can’t hear, smell or taste very well and I’m woozy. So take this review with that in mind. Usually we prepare this with sugar and jasmine pearls. Being sick i was not in the mood to fuss with anything, nor to have caffeine so I decided to try this plain. MilitiaJim made it for me so I didn’t sneeze on it.

The tea had a lot of particulate in it – not a bad thing, just a note, we were using a mesh wire infuser basket.

I enjoy this more with sweetener and the jasmine pearls, but I think it might just as well be improved by sweetener and iced.

Post-Steep Additives: none

Resteep: too tired to try

Yum!! This tea is really delicious and refreshing. I bet it would taste great iced, too!

I added a little bit of Teavana’s South African Rooibos to it, too, and it makes the fruitiness a little bit more subtle. I also like the flavor the red rooibos adds to this. (The summary of this tea says there’s red rooibos in it already, but the bag it came in says there’s only green. Hmm.)

Anyway, this is exactly what I didn’t even know I was in the mood for today!

Home with a bug today, so I wanted something caffeine-free. The dry rooibos smells primarily of strawberry, but once infused, scents of peach and citrus notes really develop. I added a bit of rock sugar while infusing which helped to enhance the fruitiness. This is tart with a sweetness, warming and comforting. A good choice.

Prepared as family pot tea. A tea I have received from derk. Thank you for second chance to try Teavana tea.
It is in high volume pot and 5 teaspoons in my DIY tea bag.

It’s not bad tea per se, but something is lacking. Maybe I have expected more fruity notes. It’s generic, somehow tropical, lemony, but somehow weak.

I have quite a lot left. I will see how it changes, when prepared for myself. Maybe it needs longer or shorter steeping. I let it steep for about 10 minutes, but I needed to steep whole pot, don’t forget.

Overall, quite average.

The last few tea pots I made were not as flavourful as my normal mug, but I do think I underleafed. It’s a shame this one didn’t work out all that well for you!

Wow, that’s the most inoffensive, generic tropical fruit flavor that’s ever graced my tongue. I’m sure this is older’n since this was from Teavana but I guess it’s held up ok… Mild, mineral, lightly fruity, barely sweet.

Another sample from the lovely derk!

So, I’ve been having umm, issues with Rooibos lately. Don’t get me wrong, I love rooibos when done right. But I keep having trouble with brewing times. Since this was a sample, and Teavana has gone POOF, I couldn’t exactly look up brewing instructions or times anywhere but here. So I went with about what it listed here: 205F/6min/2tsp/12oz.

The problem is it still isn’t as strong a cuppa as I would like. I certainly get the tropical vibe that it presents. And the rooibos isn’t too woody, which I’m not sure is a plus or minus (for me anyway). Primary flavor notes are pineapple, citrus, and I swear I taste a touch of passion fruit. But it’s hard to pick out individual notes because the flavor is so weak. If it were up to me, I’d have this same cuppa, with the flavor turned up about three or four notches. I wouldn’t want to make it too strong – these kinds of teas can get super artificial fast. But I would love to have a stronger flavor in general.

Overall? It’s decent. Maybe even above average. I still have half a pouch of this from the sample, so I’m pretty sure I can make another brew. When I do, I’m just going to have to remember to steep it a bit longer than 6 minutes. Maybe 8 or 9 would be better. But I would gladly drink this again.

This mysteriously showed up in a kitchen drawer. It’s Teavana so probably quite old. I haven’t tried it yet but you make it sound halfway decent. Maybe cold brew the rest of it this summer.

Or, if you want more, lmk.

Rooibos doesn’t have those tannins that will make your drink astringent and bitter as all get out like tea leaf, so you really can’t oversteep it. I often use a very generous (read: a bit overfull) teaspoon, put it in a fillable teabag (I like the corn fiber kind with a drawstring seal!), and just leave it in my cup while I sip on it, essentially letting it “steep” until the cup is gone.

This makes for a delicious iced tea. Hot as well. It’s almost a mix between an oolong and a green. Just the right hint of citrus. I’ll be getting more, since it’s fairly cheap as well.

Pretty eehhhhhh, tastes like a dozen other fruity teas. Could potentially add a bit of a boost to an iced tea blend, perhaps. Teavana tends to use it as a filler with their more expensive teas to create upsellable blends (ie: Jasmine Dragon Pearls), but the overly fruity flavor drags any pairing into a back alley and unsubtly does away with it.
