Stopped by Teavana again (this time one in downtown SLC; incidentally, they were also nice and non-pushy) because I really wanted a full cup of this tea unsweetened. The last time I was in Teavana I tried a sample of this that had added rock sugar, and I really liked it then, but I didn’t want to buy it without trying it unsweetened.

The name of this tea never interested me; I like citrus, but lavender is hit or miss for me (mostly miss) and sage isn’t something I seek out in a tea. But in the store I saw that the first ingredient in this is actually sea buckthorn berries! No way, I love sea buckthorn. Most people that drink this tea have probably never had sea buckthorn juice or tea before, but I have. And this is so sea buckthorn! Sea buckthorn has a somewhat appley, somewhat citrusy flavor. I love it but it’s difficult to find in the states (besides Red Leaf’s sea buckthorn matcha). I will definitely have to pick some of this up sometime.

The lavender and sage are not super present, but they do add a nice herbaceous quality and perhaps tone down the sweetness a bit, because even unsweeteend this tea is very sweet. I am discovering that Teavana’s herbals tend to be one step short of fruit juice, but they are delicious anyway. Yay for unexpected surprises and finding tasty blends where you didn’t expect it (even if it is Teavana).

Another backlog!

I’ve had this quite a few times and I can’t believe that I haven’t logged it yet…. In fact this is one of TWO of the teas I got at my Teavana haul from almost a month ago that I haven’t logged yet….. Oops!

Anyways, I’ve had this one both hot and iced and I can say that I prefer it hot a lot more, and this rating is for the hot version. Hot, I find that the tea is more citrus-y, and cold it’s more pineappley. Like, mostly pineappley. Like, I thought this was pineapple juice for a second.

My main complaint, though, is that in both blends, I can’t really taste the lavender OR the sage. It’s still good, I just thought that this one would taste more like the name suggests. I’m definitely going to try adding in some extra lavender and sage, but for now this one will get a medium rating from me.

Sipdown!

I made a huge gallon pitcher of this one iced the other day. I knew that I didn’t have enough tea left for just the right amount so I dumped the rest of what I had left and kept it in the fridge for well over 24 hours to get the most out of it.

OH MY GOODNESS! The rating on this one is going waaaaaaay up! This is one of the most interesting iced teas I’ve ever had! I’ve iced this one before by pouring it over iced but cold steeped this one really shines! The sage and lavender really came out this time! That paired with the fruit is just sooooo delicious, I can’t even handle it! It’s such an interesting herb-y than fruity flavor combination! I’m ramblin so I’ll stop but omg this one is soooo good cold steeped!

Backlog from last night. This is a very sweet tea and I feel like it would make a nice refreshing iced tea. I enjoyed the first steeping of it more then the few that followed after, most likely because the sugar that they obviously added to the blend was all used up the first time through. Enjoyable though, even though I prefer plain tea.

I swear, I didn’t think I would like this when I first bought it. Because really… Citrus, lavender and sage? But it’s actually really good. The citrus is a bright counterpoint to the more herby lavender and sage. I’m drinking it iced right now with some dehydrated raspberries, oranges and strawberries thrown in, and it’s just to die for.

I hung out with my mom today and were at the mall and without anything better to do we stopped in to Teavana. They were super nice today; so I decided to buy something. My mom was pretty awed by the things that she thought were “cute.” I got this tea and the Caribbean Calypso Mate. This tea is so pretty to look at and I will admit I primarily bought this to go with the melange one from Teavana to tone down the popcorn-ness that I hate. I also was able to pick up a SUPER cute teapot (16oz) at the Tai Pan store. I don’t know if anyone else has them, but they should go check. It only ended up costing me $2 after a coupon (originally $2.97). Bonus? One of my regular strainers fits in it perfectly!!!
I have to admit that I have not been keeping up with tasting notes and the like; so in the future I’m going to be more up to date.
I ate one of the pineapple pieces and it was super tasty! I’m not really understanding where the lavender in this is going. It is pretty light/non-existent in the dry leaf smell. Once steeped, the smell is slightly similar to the swiss vervaine melange. But it is only an undertone after the citrus fruityness. This is really nice! It is sweet, citrus, and lightly herb flavored. It is a pretty nice blend that I would suggest mostly as a mixer for other teas. It would be great to add bounce to simpler mint teas and rooibos.
edit I’ve had two cups of this now and I can’t tell if I’m just super tired anyways, or if this tea is making me tired. But either way, it is super relaxing!

big wave!!! I’ve been mia lately; I know. But this tea is something I just had to write about today. I missed this one! I recently moved my stash around and it got relegated to a corner. This tea is such a guilty pleasure for me. It costs far too much for what it is imo; but at the same time it is super tasty and I keep coming back for more. If I had to suggest my top Teavana 5 this would be among them.

Sipdown! I guess I really am cleaning up my cupboard today. This tea has been a great addition to my stash and I’m actually sad to see it go. I probably won’t be returning to Teavana in a very long time as I’ve got quite the pile to wade through!
This tea is very pleasant and was a huge surprise for me. I assumed that this meant major sage/lavender in the flavor profile, but it ended up being very subdued. This is a good and bad thing because it is a very fruity sweet blend that could use some diversity. This is a great late night tea. My husband also gives it two thumbs up and really likes it when he’s having a headache or after a long day at work. Great stuff!

I’m enjoying two pots of this with my husband tonight. He really likes this one, as do I. The flavors are really great in this one. I thought that the herbal notes take a bit of a backseat and I’d like to see more of a balance; but this is a near perfect blend for me. I really enjoy this one when I’m having a sore throat or an upset tummy. It is a great relaxing tea and I would recommend it over almost all the other Teavana teas I’ve sampled.

This tea.
I don’t even know how I fell so hard for it. The price kills me at $10/2oz. It feels like you don’t get the bang for your buck because this is an herbal composed of fruit bits with no tea to be seen. This does well for two steeps, but barely. I like a very potent cuppa so the 2nd cup always seems a bit disappointing. All in all, it is very relaxing and the sage/herb element really surprised me. I would recommend it just to try because it is very good.

this is a summery and cheerful tea.
i taste mostly apple and citrus.
very much like my favorite ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ from davidstea but with no mint.

I got this for Valentine’s Day and I love it. I will admit that just by looking at the name of this tisane, I thought there’d be too much going on. I am happy to have been wrong: the flavors of citrus and pineapple and lavender and sage = pure deliciousness. Imagine if a fairy lived on a tropical island: this is what she’d drink in the evenings.

I decided that this one would be good when you’re sick. I am DEFINITELY sick! I woe up in a mad, cranky rush this morning with no time to process it. Then once I was at work I felt terrible. I really have zero tastebuds right now. I put some honey in here and I can taste citrus.

The name of this tea threw me off a bit. I didn’t think it would be good at all. But I was wrong! It is delicious.

The dry tea smells of candied pineapples with an orange smell. You can smell the lavender as well. You can see the candied pineapple, orange rind, lavender and sage.

The brewed tea is a yellow colour similar to pineapple juice. It smells like warm pineapple with a citrous undertone.

The tea tastes delicious. I mostly taste the pineapple and sage. There is undernotes of orange. I don’t really taste the lavender, but I think the lavender makes it very smooth tasting. This tea is making me crave ham with pineapples and seasoned with sage. Mmmmmm. Even though the tea is fruity, it is not too sweet. The balance of flavours is good, and I didn’t even think of adding any sweetener. It tastes like it would be good iced as well.

This is part of Teavana’s Blissful moments tea of the month club. Each month two teas are delivered that are good on their own, or good blended together. This tea came with peach tranquility. I can already imagine what they taste like blended together, it is going to be wonderful.

I tried this one blended with peach tranquility, as recommended by Teavana.

I think I prefer these teas both separately, vs. together. While hot the tea tasted strongly of citrus, which didn’t mix well with the peach. As it started to cool, the peach became more prominent. The peach made the citrus lavender sage much sweeter. I do not taste any lavender or sage with this blend.

I think this tea is better as it cools, would be interesting to try iced. I think it makes and interesting and unique blend, but I prefer the teas each separately. I think I also need to try brewing a larger batch, I just brewed it for 10 oz.

Cold brewed this one mixed half and half with Peach Tranquility. It made a delicious cold brewed tea. It did get pretty cloudy but I think that was do to the fruit peices in the Peach Traquility, I also brewed it for about 20 hours because I forgot about it :)
The only downside is I found it had quite a bad aftertaste. (I am wondering if this was something to do with the cloudyness that developed).
I did quite enjoy this one and will most likely brew it again.

Backlogging. This tastes pretty good with the citrus and the lavender that is not too overpowering and the sage. I wish It tasted more like pineapple. I haven’t drank enough yet to find out if its relaxing or not. This is pretty good though and I added some sugar.

Backlogging. A decent citrus lavender herbal that is fairly good and added some sugar.

I was all set to break free from Teavana — and then I tried this. Wonderful bouquet, although I don’t notice much sage. The orange, pineapple and lavender are pronounced, though, and absolutely delicious together. I’m usually not much for herbals, but the Teavana shop at the mall ensnared me with their sugar-laden brew. Now, at home and with a minimum of sweetening, this tisane is even better. (I think all that sugar actually masked most of the flavor.) Drinking it hot, but I would assume this would also be great iced.

I’m trying to like this tea. But, okay… full disclosure? It tastes like hot, orange Kool-aid! Or melted down orange candies. The first three or four sips is fun, the fifth is sort of too sweet and then by the end of the cup, I’m so sick of the smell (which is wonderful at first) that I can’t finish it. However, this tea is definitely going to be iced! I have high hopes for it cold.

I’m feeling better, so I went out tea shopping today with the goal of finding some non-caffeinated tisanes to drink in the evening.

This one? Yum. Dry, this tea is intensely citrus with a delicate floral note from the lavender, and barely any sage that I can tell. The smell is amazing. I’d totally buy candles or a shampoo that smelled like this.

Steeped, the citrus comes out even more. I can distinguish that the floral scent is lavender. I still can’t tell that there’s sage, but it’s not surprising since my nose is still a little stuffed up. Drinking it, I don’t need to add honey. The flavour isn’t the same as the smell – it’s much more delicate – but it doesn’t taste bad compared to the smell like so many fruity or herbal teas can do. The lavender comes out in the back of my throat, and it’s predominantly the citrus and lavender that I taste. Of course, I’m sipping this alongside my chocolate Earl Grey cake, so YMMV.

I’m actually really pleased with this one. It’s a nice fruity evening tisane that doesn’t have any hibiscus overpowering it. I’ll probably try it with honey even though it doesn’t need it, and I think it’d be pretty good iced as well. Something to try when it gets a little warmer out.

Oh yeah. When I got it home I dumped it out onto a clean cutting board and chopped up all the gigantic pieces. Now it measures much easier! 1 tbsp in 16oz water.

Tea is pretty good. The orange is nice. I can’t really taste the lavender. I will have to make another batch and try it again.

I haven’t been here on Steepster in a long time, but a recent refresh of my tea cabinet reminded me to come back on here since I’ve gotten a lot of new teas. I’m going to try going through each one of my new teas (and a few older ones I haven’t tried yet) daily.

Now, on to the show!

This Citrus Lavender Sage from Teavana is a bit deceptive because it doesn’t take much to give you a nice flavorful cup. It has a very fragrant citrus and herb bouquet, although I didn’t really taste much sage while drinking. The citrus and pineapple are pretty overwhelming, but the lavender provides a good counterpoint. The sage kind of gets lost in the mix for me. Overall, it’s very bright and summery in nature. It would probably be great iced!

This is on my list of must have top ten teas. The reason I did not give it a perfect score, though, is because I had to doctor it first. I added a LOT of lavender to this, as I am French and love my lavender. Before doing so, this tea only tasted of citrus, and I didn’t pay twenty dollars for hot lemonade. After adding the lavender, this becomes the perfect marriage of tart sweet citrus and floral earthiness. I will keep this tea stocked always, and I have a bulk bag of culinary-grade lavender that I add to this. On the bright side, adding more lavender to this actually brings down the price per cup.

A very refreshing post-yoga tea last night. Citrus is prominent, toned down a little by the sage. I get no lavender at all. Makes me feel like I’m at a nice spa.

This is one of my favorite teas from Teavana, and one of the first ones that I purchased as a beginner. Normally, I like to blend it with the Sweet Asian Pear White Tea, and it is just amazing.

I normally brew this one with 2 tsps of the Citrus Lavendar Sage and 2 tsps of the Sweet Asian Pear, along with 1 tsp of German Rock Sugar and it is heaven.

To me, it’s a very calming tea and I quite enjoy it before I go to bed!
