From Teavana

Taste the tranquility of the emerald bamboo forest as you walk among the high spires. Mildly sweet tasting bamboo leaf is commonly used in Chinese medicine to assist in cooling the body, reversing “hot ch’i”. It is enhanced by succulent orchard fruits and delicate white tea.

How to Prepare
Use 1.5 teaspoons of tea per 8 ounces of water. Heat water to 175 degrees and steep for 1-2 minutes. 2oz of tea equals 25-30 teaspoons.

Ingredients: White tea, bamboo leaves, apple bits, carrot bits, raisins, beetroot, candied pineapple and papaya, and lemon peels.

Backlogging (and based almost entirely on my long term memory)

Experience buying from Teavana http://steepster.com/places/2895-teavana-st-louis-missouri

Packaging: this tea was bought in-store in one of their tall, oval, brownish-colored 8-oz tins (as were the previous three Teavana teas I recently reviewed). They are definitely good tins for storing any light and fluffy, or really leafy teas in (like just about any white tea, or a tea that needs lots of storage space, like a HSMF).

Appearance and aroma of dry leaf: Very aromatic.

Brewing guidelines: Traditional ceramic six-cup teapot, with large metallic tea-ball. Stevia added.

Color of tea liquor: a clear pink color, almost like pink lemonade!

Flavor of tea liquor: Light and fruity.

Blends well with: I almost always blended this with Teavana’s Snow Peak Downy Tips, and they complimented each other very well.

Value: I can’t remember the details on the cost, but I know it was a good price at 75% off.

Overall: This tea looks, smells, and tastes good. It is a great accompaniment to any tea to give it a fruity kick! We have a little of this left, and I look forward to using up the rest.

I like your reviews… if it’s not something I’d probably like, I admit to skipping to the “Overall” first. But if it is something of interest, and if I did purchase a sample/supply, your notes would be a great tool for prep and details. I always love how you include your wife’s opinion at times…bonus!

Thanks, Cheryl. I totally understand skipping all the rest and just reading the “Overall” part. I’m glad to hear you like me including my wife’s opinions. Your comment encourages me to continue to include them!

I’m slowly running out of the tea that I really like so I figured I should try to go drink some of the many Teavana teas I have. There’s really something to be said about following the steeping parameters correctly, or even a little less.

Usually with this tea I have issues with it becoming too sour or bitter from the fruits. However, today I steeped it at a little below 170 degrees and exactly 2 minutes and the flavor is much better. The color came out a lo more pink/red than it usually does, but maybe thats because i put a little too many leaves for the amount of water I used for the first steep…. oops!

good choice of tea for the night. I wasn’t necessarily craving something sweet, but the fruityness of it is quite satisfying.

Two steeps of this and a biscuit for breakfast, and I’m ready to have an awesome day! This tea has been a staple of my cupboard for a while, and far and away my favorite white tea that I own. I love how the flavor is lightly fruity, but there’s no one fruit note that stands out above the rest. I tried it this morning with a little less sugar than usual, and I think it has benefited from it. I taste a more even balance of “tea” flavor with the “fruit” flavor. Now, on with the day!

I was pretty underwhelmed by this last night. Somehow the flavour kind of overrides the white base while tasting a bit watered-down. It’s not bad, but not a re-purchase.

I’m surprised that I don’t seem to have written a note on this. I remember trying it and liking it far better than most other flavored whites I’ve had. Which figures, since it has been discontinued (that’s always how it is with me and Teavana; I like the things they discontinue and don’t like most of the rest).

Thinking I could just hop on the bandwagon of a previous note, I didn’t do a serious tasting of this today. I just relaxed and enjoyed it. There’s a sweet, fruity flavor that isn’t overpowering and the underlying tea is inoffensive (and not the dreaded dead plant flavor). I have a fair bit of this left so I’ll be able to do a proper note later.

I’m off early tomorrow morning for no. 2’s fourth grade overnight. Have fun in my absence and see you in a few days!

i think this tea is from a scale to one to ten, i would give it an 8.if it gets room temperature, it will have a very sour taste. i think that this would also be good hot and cold. But not room temperature. I can taste the bamboo leaves in this tea. I recommend this tea.

I love this tea! I was trying to describe it to someone the other day and just kept saying “it’s succulent”. I don’t think they knew what I meant but that is the best description I can come up with! This tea is fresh and fruity and cool. It smells a lot like Ribena (a blackcurrant cordial that many Brits will be familiar with) but doesn’t taste nearly as fruity. I am sure this would be wonderful iced.

Blech! WAY too strong. It smells nice, but it tastes awful. I drank one cup, and used the rest of the tea leaves as potpourri.

This tea, sadly no longer offered by Teavana, is one of my favorites. Like many teas by them, the heavy fruit use means the first two cups are the best. That being said, it is an exciting, bold tea whose aroma makes my mouth water every time. I still have some of this tea, going to make it last as long as I can.

Gross! I will drink it because I am a tea lover and never let tea go to waste…but I wouldn’t buy this again (actually it has been discontinued anyway). I think it tastes artificial and a bit like pine-sol mop water. These flavors overpower the actual “tea” in the blend.
