From Teavana

This tea was made famous by Queen Elizabeth for being exceptionally beautiful in appearance and having the most exquisite taste of any Oolong tea. This rare Formosan Oolong lives up to its reputation with a sweet and even-bodied cup that is a feast for the senses. Known as ‘Champagne Formosa,’ this Taiwanese tea starts with a floral aroma and gives you a naturally sweet fruit and honey taste. Perfect anytime of the day.

The dried leaves are long, pretty oolong. They smell like a sweetened oolong with a light floral note. As the leaves infuse in the hot water, the fan out and release a light golden honey colored liquor. The aroma is intoxicating: sweet and slightly floral. I brewed this for the full three minutes with no sugar or any other additives. The taste mirrors the aroma, it is slightly sweet and difficult to describe. It is not a sugary sweet, it is not a honey sweet, and it is not a fruit sweet, it is a natural tea sweetness.

Absolutely delicious, unfortunately insanely expensive. I would say that it is an absolute must-try, as in it is worth the price.

I enjoyed this again tonight, sneaking sips while cleaning. I find it quite brisk. I think I’ll try steeping less than 3 minutes next time and see what happens.

Tasted at 1 minute, and detected a nice maltiness. Steeped further to two minutes, and flavor became very woody. As the tea cooled, slight maltiness returned. Next time, 1 minute only.

“Champagne Formosa” is the perfect nickname for this tea and explains the quality, character and essence better than any review I can come up with. By far one of the smoothest and most enjoyable oolongs I have ever tasted. With small hints of honey & floral tones mixed in with a most enjoyable medium bodied oolong I was blown away by the flavor of this tea. Perfect for blending but let’s be honest I’m gonna enjoy this straight. Not sure how the crew at Teavana prepared…My first 100.

I received this from a swap. It’s just an okay oolong. It does have a natural pinching sweetness. It has a mint like taste that white teas have, too. Interesting. I am greener oolong fan, so I am slighted. But compared to other darker oolongs, it’s not a standout.

I was shocked at how delicious this tea is. It’s taste is difficult to describe but it’s intensely pleasant. I love it.

Eastern Beauty has a great sweet stonefruit flavor, and is delicious by itself or with a dash of honey. Although the flavor was quite enjoyable, I will no longer be purchasing Eastern Beauty from Teavana because of the exorbitant price! You can find the exact kind of tea (Bai Hao Ooolong) for a fraction of the cost from other vendors.

This tea can make 3-4 flavorful steeps, add 30 seconds per additional steep.

4.4g tea
12 oz water

Steeped to the color of light honey. There is a bit of sweetness mixed in with some maltyness on the nose. As it has cooled a bit i think i get a bit of licorice. There is light body to this tea (at least this steep). I was expecting a bit more. Its not bitter or astringent. Not a bad overall tea.

On a whim, I decided to purchase this from Teavana because I was looking for a new oolong since my plum oolong ran out.

And for $20 for 2 oz., I was expecting an oolong that made me say “ooh girl”!

On the first brew, this has an interesting buttery note that plays off to a more floral after taste. I’ll have to try a different brew in the morning.

I really enjoy this tea. It’s simple, but tasty. :)

Tried steeping the leaves a second time, though, and it was NOT tasty. :(
