I taste absolutely no pu-erh in this, but perhaps that’s not a bad thing. This tastes straight up like strawberries and cream. Actually, it tastes a lot like SpecialTeas’ Strawberry Cream, which is delicious.
Thanks for the sample, wombatgirl!

Black Fruit Pu-erh Blend by Teavana
A delicious duet of strawberry-cream and the subtle earthiness of Pu-Erh. A treat for any berry lover who likes the smoothness of a Pu-Erh. Vanilla soy milk will compliment this tea nicely. Good for weight loss and digestion.
How to Prepare
Use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8oz of water. Heat water to 195-205 degrees and steep for 3-5 minutes. 2oz of tea equals 25-30 teaspoons.
Ingredients:
Aged black pu-erh tea with dried strawberries and dairy-free cream flavoring.

Aaaahhh it’s so nice to have a good cup of tea and read reviews again. I’ve been on the road and the only tea I have had was out of my libre mug with hot gas station water…
I’m pretty sure this is the tea Lariel sent. It’s the only one that has strawberry and puerh from Teavana. But it’s pretty good! I’ve always thought puerh and strawberry would go nicely together. The strawberry is tart but still sweet in the aftertaste. The puerh earthiness is there and blends well. I reaallyy enjoyed this. Thanks again!
First “Thanks” TeaEqualsBliss for sending me so many wonderful tea samples.
I really enjoyed this tea. I taste the earthiness of the Puerh first and at the back end the sweet and creaminess of the strawberry. I delicious tea will have to try iced.
Great tea…Can’t wait to try the rest of my samples.
Okay. I went to Teavana (right around the corner from my place) for the first time. After smelling a bunch of teas that didn’t make any real impression and after complaining about the 50g limit on their loose teas, the “nice” guy at the counter gave me a “free” sample of this to try.
It’s brewing right now…
First of all, let me just say that I do not enjoy Teavana. Or at least the one near my house. 50g limit? WTF? So I countered with… Hey did you know that Davids has an ADVENT CALENDAR??? Like, you can try a bunch of teas every day to see if you like them. He said it was snappy marketing. I said, they must really love their customers…
Anyhow, I asked for 50g of three different teas. He gave me 60g, 80g and 70g of three different teas… guess he doesn’t mind me paying more, does he!?? ARGH.
Anyhow, back to this tea.
The liquor is a very dark, amber colour and smells distinctly of strawberry. I really like pu’erh based flavoured tea, so I am really looking forward to taking the first sip and really really hope that I taste strawberries. Right now it looks like coffee and smells like dessert. Not too bad a combo in my books. We’ll see how it tastes… here goes…
CRAP! I brewed it too long.
It’s fruity, but the base really over-powers it quite a bit. I like it, but I need milk and sugar to make this work, I think.
I think I will like this tea if I don’t mess it up next time. I will log this again on my second attempt.
Odd. Kind of good and revolting at the same time. Better in small doses.
Can’t say I’d buy it or recommend it.
And I really hate selling teas based on the idea that they help you lose weight. Strawberry Slender? Come on…
I buy this every once in awhile when I feel like I can’t deal with drinking straight pu-erh any longer, but having worked my way through two ounces now I can’t quite recall why I keep thinking it’s any better. Maybe because I usually have it with milk, and right now I’m just drinking it straight, so I’m getting hit full on with that dusty old flavor that some pu-erhs have. I’m not getting any strawberry at all from this cup, which is weird because you can easily see all kinds of pretty strawberry bits in the tea itself. Where did they go? Did the pu-erh eat them?
Also I’ve now had Lupicia’s Chocolate and Strawberry Pu-erh, which is basically what this tea wants to be in terms of yummy flavoring, but isn’t. Advice: if you want a sweeter flavored pu-erh, buy that instead of this, it is about eight times yummier and I think they even use a better quality base tea.
A friend of mine commented that this tea smells like Franken Berry. LOL!
It took a while for me to get used to the smokiness of this blend, but now that I have, it’s one of my favorites.
this is a straightforward blend. sweet and fruity, strawberries and puerh. not fancy, but nice and simple. goes well as a layer with the earl’s garden, and berry good.
I absolutely loved it! I tried it without anything and with milk and sugar (in fact first time i added condenced milk, was too sweet though). I love the strawberry taste as well as light notes of pu-erh. Will definitely buy more.
One of my go to teas, lovely with some almond milk and liquid stevia. I can get up to three decent infusions with this, and its a lovely addition to my diet. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend this to a pu-ehr enthusiast, as it is no where near any real pu-ehr I’ve had prior to this
This tea tasted very artificial to me, especially if you add sugar to sweeten it. I couldn’t taste any PU-ERH at all within this blend. However, if you add ice, it turns out to be a decent iced tea beverage.
On a site note- the aroma of the tea is great, but doesn’t live up to the smell when drinking.
I wanted so badly to like this tea. I think I would have, if the strawberry didn’t smell so artificial once brewed. The smell detracted from the taste, and there was a funky aftertaste (I’m assuming this was the pu erh?) that didn’t seem to mesh with the fruit. I’ll definitely experiment with this tea some more, because I have to use it up, but it wouldn’t be my first choice for a drink right now.
Well, it says Pu-Erh, but then on the label it just says black tea. Anyhow there was no earthy flavor at all. It was all tangyness – not bad at all, just not what I was expecting
This tea is ok. As with most Teavana teas, not sure how much of the flavoring is natural. You really can’t taste much of the pu-erh. I guess I could recommend this as a beginning pu-erh. I probably won’t buy again, but I would drink it if someone offered it to me.
Great Pu erh from Teavana, if you like the benefits of pu erh but not the fishy smell of some pu erhs you should give this one a try. Not a typical pu erh.
Update: Bumping up this rating because I love it so much. It has the earthy taste of puerh with the sweet smell and taste of strawberries. Unfortunately this was my last spoonful I will definently have to reorder.
Update No. 2: Bumping this rating down. This WAS my favorite Puerh AND Strawberry flavored tea but they decided to do an upgrade on it and now it taste to mellow like strawberries with cream. Now I’m stuck with 2 new ounces and it’s just not the same :(
A good tea to start the morning. This one will hold up to multiple infusions.
Nose is very overbearing. The nose is too sweet and powerful and gives no sense of tea (at least not enough for a Pu-erh). Tea was okay but it was too sweet to be a Pu-erh. The “woodsy” taste of the Pu-erh was really not good with the sweetness of the strawberry. Underwhelmed and overpriced. Not terrible, but not what I payed for.
I have this love/disappoint relationship with fruit teas. I love the idea, the reality never quite lives up to it for me. Many of my fruit and tea-drinking friends, however, say that this is a must-drink and look forwards to coming over because I have a bag of it on hand for them at all times.
A little too sweet for me, but a nice change.
