Thanks TeaVivre for the sample; thankfully Canada Post only hoarded this box for a month before letting me know they had it…

This flowering tea is slightly less flavourful than the Two Dragons and a Pearl tea. It is not as nutty; it is a bit sweeter and more floral, but I found the flavour didn’t last as many steeps. Definitely a lighter flavour over all. Still enjoyable and pretty to look at. I had three love flowers on mine, as opposed to two in the picture.

Water: I boiled 12oz water

Leaves: one big tea ball

Steep: 3 minutes

Aroma: light floral

Color: almost clear when brewing but dark yellow in mug

Taste: Although very beautiful to watch is it blooms,I couldn’t help but to take a picture. Overall I found this tea to be tasteless.

I have tried several of Teavivre’s flowering tea blends. The three I was most impressed by was True Love Flower Tea, Two Dragons and a Pearl, and Osmanthus Dancing.

True Love Flower Tea:
- The aesthetics of this tea are terrific. Watching this tea unfurrow is strikingly beautiful.
- Flowering tea doesn’t always allow for multiple good steeps. So, I appreciate that True Love Flower Tea allows for two steeps.
- True Love Flower Tea has a soft, mildly sweet, nutty flavour, and floral taste. It’s worth noting that the floral taste is well balanced and not overpowering.

a decent tea

when I smell the ball dry, it smells like white tea leaves.

when I smell the bloomed flower, it smells floral and like green tea leaves.

when I smell the brewed tea, it smells like green tea.

when I taste the brewed tea, it tastes like green tea.

I rate this a 75 because it does not taste like much.

also, I thought the ball would never sink. but it did, I feel sorry for the flower when I use all the tea in the little glass pitcher. it looks like it died..

many thanks to angel teavivre for hosting a contest I won in.

This is my first flowering tea! Thanks to Angel from Teavivre for providing this free sample! It was cool watching the tea ball slowly unfurl and bloom into two red-tipped flowers. I took several photos and posted them here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/96132028@N08/14127152033/in/photostream/. In retrospect, I probably should have brewed this in a tall, slender glass instead of a short, fat one. The red blooms appear to be quite tall, so they’re bent over and not quite as pretty as they have the potential to be. I added more water to the second infusion to remedy this (see the last photo in the series).

The liquor is super pale and light. Maybe I’m just really hungry, but the brewed tea aroma smells like udon. Wow, what flavor!!! Holy cow, this is incredible! It’s soft and subdued but very flavorful all the same. I’m getting mostly floral qualities mingled with a touch of jasmine and supported by a lovely Chinese green tea base. It’s not grassy at all. It’s vegetal instead and leans towards the buttery end of spectrum without quite reaching it. There’s a touch of sweetness too and no bitterness or astringency. Ohh yum!!

I absolutely love this! And you know what? This was harvested in June 2011 and has sat in my cupboard ever since. Blasphemy! Seriously, if you haven’t tried this, you need to. I think I might stock up on this to share with guests when we have company over. I feel that it’s a tea anyone can enjoy, veteran and new tea drinkers alike. And visually it’s just so pretty! :)
