From Teavivre

Origin: Simao(思茅), Puer, Yunnan, China

Ingredients: Large, red-brown coloured leaves

Taste: A complex mellow, earthy flavour and aroma

Brew: 3-4 teaspoons for 8oz of water. Brew at 212 ºF (100 ºC) for 1 to 2 minutes (exact time depends on your taste – a longer time will give the tea a stronger taste and color)

Health Benefits: Pu erh has a mild, gentle nature to it, and so is great to drink if you have a delicate stomach or trouble drinking other teas. People in south western China usually drink this tea during meals, to help with digestion.

I have been drinking this tea for weeks now and i have got to say that it’s amazing. It you are a pu erh drinker like me you would definitely will enjoy a cup of this tea. The Chinese have been using Pu erh tea for digestive properties for thousands of years. I wouldn’t drink this after 6:00pm because of caffeine levels in the tea.

I was all out of straight Pu-erh so this was a part of my Cyber Monday purchase. Sooooooo good! This is all that I love about a good Pu( I may be snickering like a 6 year old as I write that). Dark. Rich. Earthy. It may be a placebo effect, but I feel better when I have a daily cup. I seem to feel more relaxed and balanced drinking Pu-erh regularly. This is definitely a favorite.

This tea is excellent. I need a good cup of tea this morning as I wait for the animal hospital to open. My cat is very sick. This tea is sweet with a moderate amount of fermentation flavor. I am only getting the sweet notes, perhaps the various other notes only come out when you gongfu it. But anyway it is good

I brewed this tea once in an 18oz teapot with 7g leaf and boiling water for 30 sec.

Oh I hope your kitty is okay! I am so upset when my cats gets sick.

MzPriss

I’m sorry about your kitty :(

Tealizzy

Oh no! I hope your kitty gets better soon!

AllanK

It looks like my kitty will not get better. She is in the early stages of kidney failure and may have cancer of the eye.

looseTman

That’s a shame. :-( I’m sorry. Over the years we’ve had 3 much loved cats pass away.

Wowza, this is dark full thick and strong. This is like the puerh equivalent of a super dark chocolate. The liquor is almost black its so dark, and totally opaque. It coats your mouth and throat in its warm thick embrace. Deep dark earthiness, with a hint of cocoa that’s made more evident through sweetening. There’s also a leathery note as well. Together it all just becomes incredibly decadent and a tea that you sip, not gulp. Second steep is just as deep dark and delicious as the first. This steep is a little less heavy. If possible, even smoother than the first steep. Third steep is like the first two. This tea is so rich, three cups is enough for now. I’ll save the leaves and do some more steeps later.

Dry leaf has a peppery scent. Earthy-woodsy tone. Medium thick mouth feel. Sour-type wheat-y note close to the end of the sip.

Second infusion at 2:45 gave me a bit of a buzz. I’ve never experienced this with tea before and I’ve never even been sensitive to caffeine. I had trouble sleeping afterwards which may be attributed to this tea.

I’ve been too busy lately to take time for much tea beyond mass-market teabags, but I had a couple of hours free today, so I thought I’d spend the afternoon with this one.

The dry leaves, when I first opened the pack, gave a little dry-forest-floor burst of scent, and after rinsing, the wet leaves smell very strongly of damp trees and wood, and old, smoky leather.

The first steep of this after rinsing a couple of times tasted a bit flat, and a clay-taste overwhelmed the other tones, but from the second steep darker, leather and loam comes through and turns it into a whole other kind of drink, with an aftertaste like sweet butter. From the fourth steep, the taste becomes very strong, and there’s a thickness to the aftertaste – almost like the thickness after eating chocolate; there’s no cocoa taste, exactly, it’s more of a satisfying feeling of ‘fullness’. The later steeps became very light and sweet.

I got a nice, sleepy little buzz from drinking this all afternoon – I’ve had that once or twice from drinking puerhs, but only very occasionally; all in all, it’s a nice and long-lasting tea (through about 8-10 short 20s-1m steeps) for a lazy afternoon.

This tea has a nice dark brown color with a woodsy aroma. This tea has that earthy, woodsy flavor that you usually get with Pu-erh teas with a nice lightness at the end and a tinge of sweet to finish. The flavor is enjoyable and not overpowering with a pleasant aftertaste.

I brewed this one gong fu style and I enjoyed it. Maybe not as good or special as other pu’erhs from Teavivre but still good quality.
