I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a newbie when it comes to teas. I had heard all of the instructions on the “right” temperature to make tea at, the proper steeping time, but it seemed to me that a few degrees more or less (or leaving the tea in the water for a bit longer) wouldn’t REALLY make that much of a difference.

Cue the Breville tea maker.

I received it as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend (now Fiance – any guy who gets his girl a $200 gadget to just make tea is a keeper!) and tried it out the next day on some Peachberry Jasmine Sutra tea from Teavana.

Oh. My. Gosh.

Not only was this gadget easy to use (with the push buttons for tea, hot water, and strength of tea) but the combination of the perfect temperature water and perfectly-timed steeping made my tea taste better than I had ever tasted it before. And that INCLUDES the times I would buy a cup of it from the store.

Now, six months later, I still use the Breville every day. The timer function comes in handy for early mornings (prep everything the night before and set it to turn on like a coffeemaker at a particular time) and the hot water function makes it fabulous for bringing hot water-and-a-tea-bag anywhere.

I would suggest this to ANYONE – it is one of those gadgets that, once you have it, you will never want to live without!

I love this thing. I use it for brewing all my black teas. Being a mom of two young kids, I was always forgetting my tea and ending up with really bitter cold tea. Not a problem anymore. I do my green teas in my cast iron pot so that i can do multiple steeps.

I was shopping for a tea pot and a tea kettle when I saw this. I thought it was too expensive and walked away. I received this for my birthday and I can’t even begin to say how much I love it. FINALLY something that takes the place of both of the appliances.
I use it daily..sometimes multiple times a day. I love that my tea will NEVER be oversteeped and that it will always brew at the perfect temperature for optimal flavor for whatever type of tea I am in the mood for. I seriously cannot say enough about it!!

I’ve owned my Breville for 18 months now, without any problems. A high-quality product worth the splurge. I like how you can “set it and forget it” and get the perfect cup of tea.

Just go my Breville One Touch Tea Maker. I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t realize how important the water temperature was, or at least I didn’t pay enough attention. I’m on love with my One Touch Tea Maker!!!

My husband bought me this for our anniversary, and I absolutely love it. I’m new to tea, and this helps me with brew times and temperatures.

Best decision I have made so far. Tea wise…
Steeps for perfect amount of time.
At the perfect temperature.
Has every bell and whistle you can ever imagine.
The basket moves up and down using magnets!
Cleans extremely easy.
makes 1200ml = 5cups of tea at a time.
the power cord was fixed! it now wraps under the base extending to several feet.
This company really thought of everything… If you have any doubt read the 30+ page instruction manual available online. It will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know.

Works just fine for large pots of tea, but doesn’t work particularly well for smaller steepings. In my view, this is a pretty major disadvantage. On the other hand, if large pots of tea are your primary application, you may well be very satisfied with this tea maker.

I don’t actually own this, so I’m not reviewing it, but I’d just like to say this is very cool, as you get perfect tea every time. However, this isn’t… Traditional. Where’s the tradition, the culture, the past time of hand brewing the perfect cup?

Enter the temperature,enter the time,and you’re done!

It’s that simple. And the machine lifts the basket for you when the brew time is complete. This helps me as a mom. All you have to do is pour!

However, you have to be really careful NOT to wash the outer part of the jug, as there are electrical components at the bottom….so washing the inside is a delicate task.

Overall, this is awesome. I say get it.

LOVE this machine. It really is such a fun way to brew tea. Your able to see the leaves infuse into the water, don’t have to worry about temperature, and clean up is fairly easy (simple rinse for me after use). It’s also a stylish piece of kitchen equipment. The bottom plate inside the kettle can discolor, but that is likely from the tannins and can be cleaned easily from my understanding. I’m leaving it the way it is for now to help build up flavor. Also, I wish that it had increments beyond 5 degrees, but that just nit picking. :)

Got this when Teavana had 25% off sale so cost less than $200.00! Love Love Love it!! I have used it everyday, several times a day since getting it. My husband calls it the magic machine. It does everything a tea maker should-you can’t mess up a pot of tea. It’s small enough on the counter, looks great and does what it says and more!!!

Oh I love this tea maker! The only draw back is that you have to make a minimum of two cups (but I drink more than 8 oz at a time anyways). You can customize your brew temp and brew time and push the “tea” button let it do all the work. The tea comes out hot and delicious! It is a bit pricey (I got it as a Christmas gift) but well worth getting if you can! If I had three thumbs (I’d be a bit freaky) I would give it three thumbs up!

The best thing about this tea pot/kettle is that it can make tea for me while I’m lying in bed on a Saturday morning, and I can pour myself a steaming cupful the minute I get up. It really makes getting out of bed to make breakfast much more tolerable.

The tea, so far, comes out perfect every time. No more bitter, over-brewed tea because I walked off and no more setting the timer so my green tea doesn’t come out too astringent. Don’t know how I can go back to waiting for the kettle to boil in the mornings when I all I wanna do is crawl back in bed. Ultimate pampering. The best.

I’m so excited! I live in the Amazon Fresh delivery area around Seattle and this tea maker was there at $100 off! Just $200! I was so excited that I bought it even though I was just shopping for cheese logs and tomato soup at the time. By 9pm tomorrow, I will have it!

I have it now and ordered another for work. It’s so awesome. I’ve used it 3 times so far and I’m looking forward to trying the auto feature tomorrow and this is so awesome! The perfect cup with no fear of oversteeping and more than one at a time and it boils water too and just wow.

I could wish it had a longer cord though, I have to buy an extension cord to reach the plug here at work. I understand why it doesn’t though, most people will be plugging it in near a plug on a counter rather than at a desk where the plugs are on the floor.

There are many good things about the Breville One Touch. It brews in a clear glass pot so you can watch the tea brew if you are into that kind of thing. It brews your tea at the perfect temperature for the perfect amount of time. That the basket holding the tea will travel up and down the cylinder to brew your tea is pretty awesome. It will keep the tea hot for an hour. So if you want to achieve perfectly brewed tea in a mechanized way it is pretty much perfect. If you are “hands on” about brewing tea, and appreciate the ritual of brewing tea that asks for your attention and participation, then this is not going to be about that.

It’s hard to see how much more they could improve this, it really is amazing. Expensive but a great purchase.

I have it, too…and I love it! I wish that the lid were a little sturdier. Mine came cracked but Breville has agreed to replace it when their lids are no longer on back order. But, what’s perfect, anyway?
