The Steeper from DAVIDsTEA

The Steeper

It’s Magic

How does this superwow accessory work? Like a teapot. Except the clear, BPA-free plastic lets you watch as your tea steeps. And when you’re ready to sip, just place the steeper right on your cup. You’ll feel a rush as the weight magically opens a valve, and your infused tea flows out through a specially-designed filtration system. Then, when you lift the steeper, the valve closes automatically. It just might be the neatest, coolest way to steep.

I love my Steeper – I use this thing ALL the time! Little mess pouring the tea, the leaves are kept nicely for when I want to resteep and pretty well balanced so it doesn’t fall over or anything.

I love it so much, I crocheted 2 cozies for it and posted the pattern on my blog to share with others – ZOMG CROCHET STEEPER TEA COZY http://awkwardsoul.wordpress.com/2012/10/25/davidstea-steeper-cozy-crochet-free-pattern/

My only complaint is taking this thing apart. Maybe I’m scared I’m gonna break it and I’m screwed for having good tea until a new one comes in the mail. Putting the filter back in can be a pain. What I found works really well for cleaning is rubbing baking soda in to remove all the tea stains.

I have the 18oz and totally want the 36oz. One day.

Raritea

Awesome pattern! The cozies you made are adorable!

Oolong Owl

woot, ty! I was so happy when I had the pattern finished – I was promising to have it done sooner, but I had to finish my shawl first. I might try making a knitted or felted version in the future.

That is such a cute little cozy! I’ve been curious about the Steeper. Wasn’t sure if it would be worth the investment.

Scatterbrain

If it’s anything like my Teavana steeper, it’s gonna start to get leaky after a while, so watch out. :/

Oolong Owl

I’ve had mine for a year now, used about 2-6 times a day, no leaks.

Scatterbrain

Wow, I need to get me one of those!

Sare

So how much would it be for you to make me a tea cozy ??? :)

yappychappy

I’m so having my sister make me a tea cozy.

clairemipsum

Love it! Just downloaded it off of ravelry. I wish you included a knitting pattern as well

Oolong Owl

Hopefully I’ll do a knitting pattern sometime, it’s just my knitting pattern writing skills aren’t there yet.

Brooklynsheep

David’s Tea would be silly not to have you make a bunch in their signature color for sale at their shops…!

This is bliss.

Pretty much the IngenuiTEA, but I could buy it at my store so I did.
$20.
No leaks, delicious tea, no plasticy flavour even from first use! I like it.

Very easy to clean as well, Just a rinse will do, or you can get all grabby and take out parts, but you don’t have to do it every time that’s for sure. Love.

Cattibrie

I want one of these. My cousin has one and she loves it.

Daisy Chubb

So far it’s flawless, and it’s cheap enough! I bought this one with a birthday gift card, so if you even have a giftcard then it’s def worth it haha n_-

Indigobloom

Only problem I’ve found is that after awhile it collects tea grime. I’ve been meaning to pick up some bleach to clean my Teaopia version

Eisenherz

Thanks for reviewing this, I had been wondering for a while whether this was as wonderful as advertised for such a low price… I’ll definitely get my hands on one now!

Daisy Chubb

For sure! The price is right my dears. Still so far so good. It’s like a magic trick to my friends and family haha!

I just got this to replace my old IngenuiTea that I got from Adagio eons ago. It had begun to leak, and then someone left it in the sink while it was backed up with vacuum dust in the water. Ew. At least that finally forced me into replacing it. I like that the strainer at the bottom comes out; it didn’t on my old one. So far, so good, but just a month in use thus far.

MissMylin

I got this as a birthday present a few months ago. Up until then I was using a Takeya tea maker, but now this is all I use for making tea at home. I live alone so the Steeper makes just the right amount for me :-)

Have the 36 oz one and use it regularly for tea sharing. Love it! Will be buying the 18 oz variety soon.

I wish I had gotten the 32 ounce Ingenuitea. The 16 is good, but sometimes I just don’t wanna get up that often to resteep!

I love that thing! really really useful for tea that expand a lot but that also is bad side if i use it with a tea that is not full leaf or tea with powder in it The steeper become a pain to clean even more if for some reason i did not remove the leaf from directly after using it some tea get in part we cannot remove or clean but i still really love the steeper just choose carefully what the kind of tea you put in it !

How do you revolutionise tea making? By using the Steeper – tea brewing is quick, easy, and mess free, and you get to watch your gorgeous leaves unfurl and dance through the clear BPA free plastic! Just a genius device, and the joy of watching the liquid disappear into your cup never gets old ( or I’m just very easily entertained!). Thank you DavidsTea and international shipping!

TheTeaFairy

Isn’t it great?? I got mine one week before x-mas and it definitely doesn’t get old! I guess I’m also very easily entertained!!

TassieTeaGirl

I’ve had mine since late September. Just can’t get enough!

TassieTeaGirl

It looks so good going into double walled glasses too!

After having many battles with other steeping accessories I bought this and I love it. Its easy to use and clean, no plastic taste is left to the tea, no leave particles or whatnot makes its way through and it comes with a little coaster! The only thing i would change would be like a water guide so you know how much water you are adding!

I agree about the water level. I added the amount I knew would fill my cut and used a sharpie to mark it.

I want to add another great recommendation for this. Just got it this afternoon but it is amazing. And it is super easy to clean. I may actually consider getting another one so that I can hold the leaves for resteeping and to keep my blacks from my other teas. Still on the fence on that one.
