From Ten Ren

Dragon Well, also known as Long-Gin or Lung-Ching, is a green tea that is considered one of China’s famous teas. It was mentioned by Lu Yu (733-804 A.D.) in his extensive thesis on tea, titled the “The Classic of Tea”. Dragon Well leaves are pan fried instead of steamed to stop the fermentation process. The tea is steeped from good quality leaves and has a yellow-green color, pure aroma, and fresh and rich flavor with a pleasant aftertaste.

Like other green teas, Dragon Well is an unfermented tea. Green tea has been reported to contain vitamin C, many amino acids, and among teas, the highest concentration of catechins which has been reported by researchers to help prevent cancer. The water used to steep Dragon Well should be about 160°F or 70°C to prevent scalding the leaves. Available in boxes of 20 bags. Shipping weight is 0.16 lbs.

A box of Dragon Well teabags came as a free gift thrown in with my last order of Ten Ren loose teas. Like before Ten Ren teabags hold up to being a lot better than one would expect for a teabag to the point of beating some cheap loose tea. The Dragon Well has a nice sweet medium green tea taste without any signs of bitterness or smoke. While I do not see myself paying money for this, it is good enough that I will probably drink it as a travel tea instead of giving it away.
