I really like this Earl Grey – I like the combination of the citrus with the bergamot citrus… it makes the flavor lighter and more fruity, while curbing some of the purfume-y notes from the bergamot. Nice.

The Assam is lighter than a typical Assam too, and I am attributing that to the citrus… it seems to give the overall cup a nice lighter flavor. The Assam is still malty, astringent, and bold… just not quite as strong as an unflavored Assam would be.

Another from my box o tea from LiberTeas several years ago. Initially it smells as though it has been scent contaminated with all the rest, but when steeped 2.5 minutes it smells definitely like black tea with light citrus. More like cleaner than fresh fruit, but not unappealing. It looks and smells like a tea that will get bitter if over-steeped so I was careful with the time.

First sips yield a fairly typical black tea that starts out a bit sweet and then goes a bit astringent, with some light citrus in the background. Considering the age and storage of this sample, I am impressed that there are any flavours to distinguish at all. In the aftertaste I get a sense of bergamot but it is very light and not dusty at all the way bergamot can sometimes be.

This is a very pleasant (if mild) cuppa, and I will definitely be able to finish the sample. Yay!

Thanks LiberTEAs for this!!!

I think this is a nice Earl Grey…I can taste the difference between the stereotypical Bergamot and this lovely Citrus! I like this with the citrus they used! I would say this was a nice BURST of flavor and quite juicy.

This is nice both hot and iced! YUM!

This earl grey has quite a punch and the added citrus with the bergamot makes for a very complex flavor. Be careful not to oversteep this tea, it tends to taste like Mr Clean lemon. In the end I like an earl grey where the bergamot doesn’t take over and with bergamot having added support with the citrus the poor assam has no chance at all. Not bad but I always get a little nervous when my tea looks like potpourri.

A flavored tea that my humans found more than tolerable, in fact, they truly liked it. http://lyt-tea-reviews.blogspot.com/2010/12/review-boston-tea-companys-earl-grey.html

Thank you LiberTEAS for an awesome sample of this! This is a real mild Earl Grey. It was perfect I think, nothing overpowering. It is just right! I really appreciate it. I am picky when a tea is flavored. It can be a small window of what’s too little or too much. Really nice black tea in it too.

I absolutely love it iced! Really enjoyable.

It smells so good. Once brewed the liquor is reddish, like a red ale. The assam base is quite nice, bold, malty & strong, most of the Earls I’ve tried have this assam base. I don’t know if my whole milk is killing the citrus/bergamot flave, but you hardly taste it, even without the milk. Have to try it again.

I actually expected very little from this tea, but it exceeded my expectations. You can read other notes to get the details of the taste, but one thing that I noticed that really seemed abnormal was it’s peppery taste- but a little dairy calms this down. All in all, it’s like there’s a party in your mouth and everyone is drinking BTC Earl Greay Citrus.

I don’t care for this tea at all. It’s very pretty loose leaf tea — full blossoms, dried orange peels — but multiple efforts to steep it at different temperatures and times only leads to the same bland, somewhat bitter taste for me.
