From The Devotea

Part of our White Tea Concoctions range, this is a simple blend of genuine liquorice root with fine white teas. It’s quite savoury – although if you want that “liquorice allsort” taste just add plenty of sugar.
This tea is being phased out.

Savory licorice root, not the flavor you think of with artificial licorice candies, this is the real stuff. Mellowed out a bit by some soft vegetal tones

Food Pairing: Has a strong taste that works well at the end of a meal. It is well matched to a fennel-based salad and is a great accompaniment to fried or grilled street food such as samosas or kebabs.

Ingredients: White Tea, liquorice root

I’m not a huge fan of white teas, although I have begun to appreciate them a little more lately. I AM a big fan of licorice root, however, & have enjoyed it on & off for years. It is great for balancing the blood sugar, & the mood, & has a natural sweetness to it. This cup of tea was a pleasant diversion.

Sipdown! (234)
And another one from Sil via Terri! Thanks guys!

This one reminds me of the Absinthe White from Herbal Infusions, minus the mint.
I can taste the white tea, which is the sign of a good blend, and the licorice is really nice with it. It’s not overwhelmingly strong and it has a bit of sweetness to it that I quite enjoy! I wish I’d seen that recommendation to steep it for 5+ minutes, but I am happy with this as it is. Steeped like this, it’s a nice tea for 10:30 at night.

Oh and this is a soft and fuzzy kind of white tea!

Thank you!

I found this one to be pretty “meh” to be honest i expected it to be a little sweetner given my past exeriences with licorice root and it wasn’t. It was also a fairly bland brew, which left me feeling very meh about the whole thing. On the upside, another tea tried….so there’s never any harm in that…coming up are 2 teas i fully expect NOT to like hahaha

Yikes – that doesn’t sound like fun (2 teas you expect not to enjoy!)

(thank you….)

How long did you brew it, Sil? It can be 5 minutes before this one fully develops.

Sil

Robert – i probably didn’t brew it long enough…so hopefully cavo will give it a longer steep when she gets the other half of this sample. I’m always wary of oversteeping blacks and not all of the samples terri shared with me had parameters on them :)
