I love the way this tea looks – like green and brown confetti. The smell is mostly chocolate, but you can locate the mint if you try. The taste is exactly what it sounds like it would be – chocolate mint. It does have the same type of mate flavor that I got from MateVana, which is great because MateVana is one of my all time favorite teas. I really like this tea, but the jury is still out on whether I like it enough to order some. I think I need to try a few other kinds of mate before I commit to one.
I pulled this out of the tea drawer and decided that since I am exhausted mate would be a good choice. I find myself wanting more from this tea. More chocolate, more mint. This is probably not the tea’s fault, I actually did not have quite enough leaves for the size pot I made it in. I remember this being a bit stronger, but it is still good today. I added a touch of sweetener/half and half which helped to bring out the chocolate flavor.
Second steep of this is a little underwhelming. It could be that I am a bit under the weather and my taste is probably way off.
I am really enjoying this tea this morning. I really like mate, but I’m not sure if this is the mate for me. This isn’t really an every day mate, and that is what I would like to have. MateVana had more of an everyday appeal. Regardless, I am glad to have tried this and have enough for one more pot. I may eventually order this, but I think my next mate order will be more of a plain mate that is appealing as a breakfast tea.
This is even better with a bit of milk and sugar to really bring out the chocolate flavor. It is actually very similar to the mint chocolate oolong I have, although this chocolate/coffee and the oolong is more mint.
