You won’t believe your taste buds with this one! Rooibos is blended with all natural flavor to create that special soda we all love. French vanilla and cola topped off with vanilla chips for an extra creamy effect. Remember the days at the ice cream parlor ordering a vanilla coke and getting a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. Try with a splash of milk for a whole new experience! Naturally caffeine free!

WOAH! I have to admit I was not expecting cola flavor to be good in a non-carbonated tea version.
Linsey has proven me wrong! I steeped this double strength, added a touch of brown sugar and poured over ice, and WOWZERS! Most refreshing iced tea I’ve had in a long time. And I love that it’s rooibos and naturally caffeine free.
It’s not like drinking flat cola at all. Yes it’s a dead on ringer for cola but the carbonation isn’t necessary in a tea, it’s just in a different class of it’s own. Although I am curious what this would be like if I steeped it really concentrated and poured in some carbonated water and ice. I’ll have to order more and try that!

This sounds really interesting. I’m going to have to add it to my list of teas to try.

I recommend it! I was pleasantly surprised.

Cash & Chris

This sounds like it might be good iced with a splash of rum.

Ashley Bain

That probably would be really good.

Here’s proof that I’m not a hoity-toity, oolong orthodoxical tea purist. I loved the smell of this stuff right on opening the bag. It smelled like Vanilla Coke. No joke. (Cheesy rhyme WIN!)

However, I could not – in good conscience – prepare it like a normal rooibos. No sir. I had to latte the s**t out of it. And it worked quite swimmingly that way. A great capper to a busy (and tea-filled) day.

Ah bummer this is rooibos… I thought it was going to be a vanilla cola flavored oolong lol oh well.

Geoffrey Norman

That would be something, though. Sorry for the bait-’n-switch. I was aiming for an alliterative opening.

Wow…the smell of this tea is great! It truly does smell exactly like vanilla cola. Yet this is the part where my mind catches up with my nose and hits me over the head, telling me to stop and think for a moment: Vanilla cola tea? As in…a hot liquid that tastes like vanilla cola? (I must be careful here to not call rooibos “tea,” for the sake of the tea-political correct.) While my mind is still trying to make a judgement call about whether or not it likes the idea of hot vanilla cola, my body forges ahead into the unknown to investigate and make some of this interesting mix.

It truly is a mix, according to the label. Rooibos, vanilla chips, and “natural flavors” come together in some magical manner to emulate the smell of this carbonated drink…minus the carbonation! Steeping is incredibly straightforward. 1 teaspoon per eight ounces of boiling water. I double this for my teapot and steep the blend for the recommended five minutes.

I had mentioned that the loose blend smells entirely of vanilla cola. Upon removing the infuser from my teapot, I catch my first whiff of the prepared drink…and now I get more variety to the aroma. The rooibos smell is much more prominent, the cola scent itself is there, and the vanilla laces the whole of the aromatic profile. Still charging onward with this endeavor, I pour my first cup and sit back to sip.

The taste of the brew is not as strange as I had anticipated. The rooibos comes through heavily in the flavor, causing this tea to be better described as “vanilla-flavored rooibos with light hints of cola.” The first thought that comes to my mind is “Well, this is fun.” The spiciness (meant, theoretically, to emulate the cola) adds a nice touch. Having experienced great vanilla rooibos in the past, this twist was novel and tasty.

Overall, this rooibos definitely made for an enjoyable and fun experience to try. If you like vanilla rooibos, or even rooibos in general, I highly recommend checking out The NecessiTeas Vanilla Cola. I would give it an 83/100 on my personal enjoyment scale.

I taste a lovely cola flavor, though definitely not as strong as 52teas soda flavors. It was refreshing and authentic. It’s best quite cold. I didn’t include any marshmallows in my cup, but I sweetened it plenty, which helped bring out the nice cola flavor. The cold resteep is full of cola flavor as well. I’m trying this for the third time now, and I have to say that the soda flavor isn’t as strong as in previous cups. I mostly just taste rooibos with maybe an aftertaste of cola.

I reorganized my rooibos tea tins over the weekend, and as such I pulled out a bunch of tins of neglected teas to revisit this week during the evenings…

I really got a lot of the cola in this cup and not so much of the vanilla – I don’t mind though, I bought it because of the cola and not the vanilla. It’s one of the more accurate and effervescent cola flavourings I’ve come across in a tea, though it leans just a bit heavy on the lemon/citrus side of cola. It’s good though – really good. Fits that “dessert profile” need without dipping into chocolate/caramel/coconut, which isn’t always what I want.

I keep dreaming of restocking the Cherry Cola from NecessiTeas – that blend is incredible. However with how inconsistent and unreliable her restocks are, and the insanely high shipping cost to Canada, I’m coming to terms with the fact that might not happen again. This is the next best thing.
