Organic Monks Sacred Blend

Black Tea by The Path of Tea

One of our most flavorful teas. Light fruity grenadine lifts exotic caramel vanilla creating a unique heavenly flavor. Excellent smooth and mellow finish.

Another SoccerMom Tea, YAY!
:)

Pre-Infusion Smell/Dry Loose Leaf:
Smells like Vanilla, Apricot, and a hint of chocolate…which is interesting because I don’t think 2 out of those 3 are even in there! But it smells really nice! I also sniff a slight cookie or pastry speck of something in there as well! YUM!

While it’s infusing I can smell a little caramel, a little vanilla, a little grenadine, and of course, black tea aroma.

After infusing the wet leaves smell like a candied-wood if you can imagine that. The liquid itself – grenadine and black tea.

It’s a handsome medium-dark brown color.

Much of the actual ingredients seem to play nice with each other and there isn’t another that seems to be too over the top…altho I can taste the grenadine a bit more than the others, but it’s sweet and juicy and a great contribution to the flavor instead of being distracting.

I really like this one. Since I was very low on black and flavored black teas – this is going to be PERFECT for mornings and mid-mornings when I am looking for my black and black flavors! YAY! A great tasting cup! It’s been a wonderful tea day thus far!!!!

Beware of the over-infusion/over-steep…it does get bitter. Oops!
I know what a good cup this was yesterday so my rating stands.

A sampling that I received from TeaEqualsBliss – thanks my friend!

This smells yummy! Fruity and sweet!

I am getting a lot of sweetness – as well as quite a bit of astringency from this cup, which makes for a bit of a dry aftertaste. The vanilla notes are subtle yet present. The grenadine is the strongest flavor of the cup and it’s yummy, but I wish it lingered in the taste. It’s more like a quick wash of grenadine with notes of vanilla and then an astringent dryness.

Enjoying the last of the sampling that TeaEqualsBliss sent to me… thanks!

I think I have found the secret for this tea – because this cup is so much better than yesterday’s cup. This tea does well with a rinsing (or awakening) of the leaves. It helps remove some of the astringency and tannic quality of the tea – not all of it, and I didn’t want to eliminate all of it, but, yesterday’s cup was just a bit too much for me. But a quick 10 second rinse of the leaves and the tea tastes so much better – all flavors are in check!

It is still a rather robust tea, but the vanilla softens it a bit and I can really taste the caramel this time around also. A little fruity and a little sweet, together with a very pungent black tea.

Since this one is so much better, I shall increase the rating just a bit.

A nice morning cup. I’m not sure what’s exactly in the blend it’s a little smoky and very smooth.
