Great Canadian Travelling Tea Box (pt.1)
I had this tea today ( March 24th)…. finally caught-up on my tea journal… need to finish box 1 teas and get into the next box that I have _

Dry Leaf: Black tea leaves with flower petals, which has a subtle sweet-ish smell. I love the little tea packages these teas from this company comes in _.

Steeped: The water is a nice amber color and smell very much like a fresh-home-baked apple pie. I was licking my lips with this one. Who doesn’t love apple pie without the calories? Yummm. The tea is nice and sweet, but not overly sweet-smelling. Apple-cinnamon-y taste, which gives the taste buds a mini kick of spice _. And lastly I found this tea nice and light in body…. just another reminder that it may be better to consume this tea than an actual pie…..

Fruity and spicy, but I don’t really get a baked vibe from this. It is tasty, and I would drink it again, but compared to the other offerings of this company this did not impress all that much for me personally.

I ordered a sample of this tea months ago, when I first started drinking loose leaf tea. I made a couple of cups back then, and always felt there was something slightly off about the taste of the tea. But now that I am a more seasoned tea maker (and at the end of my sample) the tea tastes better! Go figure. ;)

The positives: The flavors of the tea mesh together well for a light, fruity taste, and the base tea is very bright. The spices and fruit flavors are at their peak when the tea has cooled off a bit. I sipped at it for a bit when it was still very hot, and then started gulping when it hit the sweet spot temperature-wise.

The negatives: The cobbler effect is slight, and the tea is definitely drying. I don’t like it iced at all; some flavor quality about it does not ice well, and it tastes kind of soapy.

Bottom line: I wouldn’t turn a cup of this down in the future, but I wouldn’t order it again.

So this is one of the teas I chose for my black tea sampler from The Persimmon Tree. Did not like it as much as the others that I’ve tried so far. The dry leaves and the tea itself both smelled a bit like sour apple, which I was not expecting. The taste was tart with a minty aftertaste. Not a huge fan. I didn’t even really detect the peach taste or scent in it. I will not be repurchasing (sad because I had such high hopes for this one).
