Oolong Tea by The Random Tea Room & Curiosity Shop

This light, floral, fruity and softly sweet green Oolong is affectionately referred to as “The Princess of Teas.” The leaf style of this winter harvest Taiwanese specialty is twisted as opposed to rolled like many other Oolongs, yielding a depth of flavor upon the first steeping that often takes rolled Oolongs several steepings to achieve. An elegant, delicate brew that is to be savored like a fine wine – on its own.

Especially soft and perfumed, this oolong isn’t as juicy or sticky as I would hope, but its a delicate example of a greener twisted-leaf style.

Still steeping. This oolong thins out pretty well by the third steep, but is still drinkable. And the leaves look oh-so-nice.

I brewed the last 10 gram of this I had in a 6 oz session. The liquor that resulted is a vibrantly clear yellow-green, with a dense perfume of lilac blossom, hibiscus, and sesame oil. A bit of blue crab meat scents through. The mouthfeel isn’t as dense and juicy as I would like, but this is a nice light cup with lots of floral character.
