Another sample from the SF International Tea Festival. I do recall I had this one before at a Panera Bread and I thought it was ok.

One major beef I have with RoT is that their teabags often make a very weak tea so you end up having to use two and this makes it a lot more expensive. I did steep this guy in another mug for 12 oz water for abut 4 minutes and it got sufficiently dark. I do like peach things, and ginger as well. I believe this is a ceylon tea. This isn’t too bad, the flavor is light and pretty juicy. The ginger provides a nice contrast but isn’t too strong in my opinion. My only issue is the slightly weird aftertaste, I am getting, perhaps it’s the paper from the teabag… You do get spoiled rather quickly drinking loose leaf teas!

Anyway this tea is fairly pleasant, I suspect as an iced tea it would be be even better. I do not feel the need to buy any but might pick some up again when I find myself near a Panera.

SIPDOWN! This is another one terri sent and for which the folks at work stole my remaining teabags of! I saved one to have this evening and i’m glad i did. This is another pretty decent tea bag from republic of tea. What i’ve come to realise is that while there are other companies that do the nice sachets and whose teas are pretty decent, this is the sort of company for which i could easily have a couple tins tucked away at work. This is a pretty nice juicy peach sort of tea. My only complaint is with how light the ginger is. I wish it were just a smidgen more gingery. Still though, not a bad little tea! thanks terri!

I had this yesterday at Panera. Per CupofTree’s suggestion, I used two teabags in one cup. The results were fantastic! Mmm, nice hot peach tea with a pinch of ginger! This tea has 100% yum factor, assuming you like peach of course.

I added a little bit of Stevia in the Raw (kindly given to me by my co-worker) and then a splash of skim milk. This is just a lovely cup of peach tea. The ginger is a side note and not overpowering. It mingles nicely with the peach and adds to the overall warming sensation of drinking hot tea on a cold winter day. I really liked this a lot more than I thought I would!

Thanks for the tip, CupofTree!! That extra teabag made all the difference. :)

THANK YOU Joe Cook!!
This is my all time FAVORITE RoT team, and my very first loose leaf from the company! This one was an amazing choice, right up my alley, and I am loving it.

The ginger is much spicier in the loose leaf and the peach is lip smacking good. I only have enough for one more cup, and I’ll be saving it for a very special occasion. ee! Thanks!

Received this as a sample with their latest catalogue. So I figured I’d give it a shot. Turns out I really Liked it…a lot. I’m usually not a huge fan of ginger in anything UNLESS it’s done right and Republic of Teas did this one right. Perfect blend of peach and ginger. I might have to order

Meh. One of my choices at Panera today, this just sounded good. Nothing remarkable, but I did have to add twice my usual amount of sugar to get a hint of peach. Oh well, I still enjoyed it.

I’m not 100% sure this Ginger Peach tea is from the Republic of Tea (coworker’s partner gave about a half oz to me!) but that is what I suspect (he said it was from a widely available brand in a gourmet shop, but he couldn’t remember the name of the company! This is my best Sherlock Holmes deductive reasoning!).

ANYWAY!!!

I am very much enjoying this tea on this snowy, cold day. The sweet and spicy thing is right up my alley! I love the peach flavor (a tad fake, but that’s ok), and the hint of ginger. Even with careful brewing, it’s a tad bitter. I suspect the tea base is not all that and a bag of chips. It’s not bad enough to make me not enjoy the tea, and a half teaspoon of sugar helped smooth the rough edge a bit.

The most exciting thing to me, though, is that I discovered that I love this flavor profile! I know a few more companies make ginger peach teas, and I am going to have some fun tasting my way through them to see if they use a better tea base! I really love this combination of flavors!

I used the last of this tea to make some iced tea, along with Samovar’s Yunnan Golden Buds. Even though I used a tablespoon of this tea with three tablespoons of the Golden buds, this tea asserted itself and made an iced tea which was rough around the edges and still had a fake peachy taste. Needless to say I was not sad to decupboard this one!

I apologize, poor Yunnan Golden Buds, to have had you mingle with such an uncouth tea. It will not happen again!

Finally – I brewed my first liter of cold brewed iced tea of the season! I picked this one to start off with because I always enjoyed Snapple Peach iced tea, but now find it much too sweet. I also loved the peach flavor of this hot, but found the tea base a little rough sans additions, and did not find the idea of adding milk to this appetizing.

I let it steep about 15 hours in the refrigerator, added 4 teaspoons of simple syrup, and YUM! It’s delicious, refreshing, and the cold brew took care of the astringency/bitterness issues I was having with the hot tea.

(Note about cold brewing: I usually save the teas that are too strong/bitter for my liking for cold brewing. If you love a tea exactly as it is hot, you will probably have better luck hot brewing double strength and icing rather than cold brewing – you may find the cold brew too weak. For example – I love Golden Monkey iced, but I’d never cold brew it.)

Right now I have some of my Earl Grey Melange + Tippy Yunnan cold brewing. That Tippy Yunnan can put hair on your chest, so I think it’s a good candidate for cold brewing. Will report back on what happens!

The liqueur looked so good when I brewed it…I really looked forward to some good black tea. And i needed the ginger punch today. Has anyone seen how nasty the weather in NY is?

Well, The black tea was not very brisk :( and I think they forgot the ginger. But the peach flavor was refreshing so overall it worked for me…

Can anyone recommend some good tea with ginger peachness?

Finally was able to try a cup of this today. Didn’t need to add anything to it- no bitterness, just ginger peachy goodness with a good tea flavor. Going to buy a tin tomorrow. This will become a regular tea. It’s nice to find a black tea that can be so refreshing!

Had another cup of this at Books A Million today and bought the travel tin. Books A Million is waaaay out of my way and I still manage to find a way to “stop by” and grab a cup of this tea! Got a little package of walkers shortbread to go with it- yummy!

I like peach tea on general principles. Sometimes I buy it bottled or canned to drink on the go and I found that the plain peach fruit tea from Celestial Seasonings goes great with black tea, so I used them in combination for some time. Then I ran out and kept forgetting to replace it, so when I saw Republic of Tea’s Ginger peach tea, I decided I might as well commit and buy the combination rather than the separate elements.

Upon opening the tin, I breathed in the lovely scent and thought I’d made a good decision. I brewed it up hot and took that first sip thinking, ‘Ginger and peach…what’s not to like?’ By the second sip, I was thinking this was neither as peachy nor as tea-y as it ought to be. And where was the ginger?

Over all, it seemed kind of watered down. To my surprise, sweetening this didn’t help a bit. Perhaps a longer steeping or an additional teabag might do the trick but perhaps not…it left an odd, astringent aftertaste in my mouth.

I’m really very disappointed and am glad I only bought the sampler size rather than hocking my valuables to invest in a full sized tin.

Brewed up a large glass of this iced using 2 tea bags at work this afternoon. I found the ginger to be a tad strong for my liking, but it makes a refreshing iced cup. I thought the peach flavor was pretty noticeable, so it gets a few more points for good peachy ness.

Having a lazy tea day. Just made Iced Tea with a few tea bags. I think I’ll be ready to sit down for something warm and delicious later tonight. This is such a nice lightly flavored iced tea. I use just a pinch of sugar.

2nd tea testing today! lol. I got this along with the Twinings Pumpkin Chai.

1st smell: Peach! Some tanginess which I assume is the ginger.
1st taste: Again peach. I had to add plenty of sugar, and even then this tea is quite dry. It isn’t bad and a fair tea to have on hand. I think I might make a few pitchers of ice tea with this, so I will use up more….I am afraid I won’t drink enough of it before it gets stale. I wish ROT had smaller canisters of like 25, I know they do of some flavors, and I wish it were possible to buy them in the stores, or at least the stores that I frequent.

Just finishing my lunch before my next student arrives. With lunch I’m having my current favorite iced tea. Actually it’s been my favorite for years, it’s just the tastiest! Unsweet!

Decent. Enjoyable. Gets bitter easily though.

The Plantation Peach from Charleston Tea Co. blows this tea out of the water! That’s a loose tea though. Goes great with Hob Nobs in the middle of the afternoon. :) :) :)

The flavor was weak, even after six minutes of steeping. Adding honey helped bring out the peach flavor, though the ginger was still faint. After that the flavor was acceptable, but I wouldn’t rush out to buy this tea.

This was another bagged sample obtained by my lovely wife at a high-class hotel during her business trip. I am no longer a big bag advocate but I am always more than willing to sample new tea selections.

I steeped this tea on our office Flavia coffee machine by pouring the machine’s boiling water over the bag into a paper cup. The Flavia aparatus does include a “tea” setting to do this, but the setting is no more designed for tea than it would be for instant oatmeal.

In any event, I let the bag sit in the boiling water for five minutes. The resulting color was a reddish golden brown.

As I raised the cup to my lips, I detected a peachy aroma. This made me anxious for my first taste since I rarely smell anything with brewed tea bags. However, the party ended when the flavor hit my taste buds. I did not think it was possible but the taste was actually weaker than the aroma.

The flavor was lightly peachy. The ginger was missing in action, up to about my twentieth sip. Then, I tasted the hidden ginger behind the peach attribute.

This tea does have a natural (instead of chemical) peach taste. There is no astringency to note. I would have liked it more if the flavor was bolder and the ginger was allowed to assert itself. The bag package claims that it was made from the “finest black tea leaves.” If so, let them shine, Republic of Tea! This selection had about the same amount of black tea flavor as herbal tea.

Did I hate this tea? No. Will I go out of my way to try it again? No. However, I would give it another shot if I had the opportunity to test this blend as a full loose-leaf and properly infused incarnation.

Not sure how I have failed to rate this, I honestly thought that I did…
Oh well, I enjoy this tea. I keep a tin at the office and at home.
It more or less a go-to tea when I am not sure what I want. The peach flavor is wonderful, makes me think of the peach preserves my grandmother made…the ginger is subtle, just right and there is something else in the aftertaste that is brief, can’t quite define it..maybe a minty note, maybe hibiscus…something is there though. This is a keeper.

Additional Info: I agree with Hazel, the color of the liquor is gorgeous!

Dragging my butt this morning getting up so i picked up some tea at the University Cafe. Smells really gingery, and peachy at first, but the black tea kinda takes up all of your taste buds. I think i just don’t like black tea.

This tea is so perfectly peachy! I’ve had this tea before and I was so happy when I found it hiding in one of our cupboards. It smells so good when it’s steeping and it’s nice and sweet! ♥♥
