Rooibos Tea by The Republic of Tea

I’m getting sick. Chest congestion and just a general malaise. So, I decided something full of stuff that’s supposed to be good for me is what I’m supposed to be doing.
Bluh. Now I remember why I have a vague distaste for rooibos. It’s the scent. Pretty awful. But, like may of the other rooibos teas I’ve recently had from The Republic of Tea, it grows on me as I finish the cup.
The idea of vanilla redbush is superb in the world of tea. This one is very poor for the price asked. I didn’t taste the redbush much and the vanilla seemed artificial. After 7 or 8 cups I concluded that it has a horrible aftertaste compared to a good cup of vanilla redbush. There are vastly superior vanilla redbush (in teabags) at half the price.
I enjoyed this tonight at a wonderful cafe. I was looking forward to trying it as I love vanilla. It is the first red tea I have tasted and I loved the color. The experience was good, but nothing remarkable. I actually couldn’t pick out the vanilla which I found surprising after reading some of the previous tasting notes.
This was steeped WAY TOO HOT but it seems to take the abuse well. It’s surely a Rooibos – very true. Vanilla was a good match up here. Goes well with the Chocolate Chip Cookie I paired it with. YUM!
First rooibos I had every had was this. It did not impress me at all. The vanilla flavor was too strong and not that pleasant to me. On the other hand I know people that really enjoyed it.
I really like this – it’s sweet and creamy. Vanilla rooibos is my favorite way to drink it.
