Vanilla Almond from The Republic of Tea

Steepster Score 48 Ratings Rate This Tea

Vanilla Almond

Black Herbal Blend by The Republic of Tea

Sweeten The Mind Tea – The smoothness of Madagascar vanilla beans takes over the first sip of this tea, sweetening the cup. Nutty almond follows, which sends it soaring to the realm of dessert. Try a strong brew with steamed milk for a tea latte.

Like the other Republic of Tea I’ve had, this also smelled very good. But I have to agree with others here…the idea is good, but the black tea is pretty strong and the expected vanilla almond flavoring barely comes through. I still like drinking it, but in terms of finding a good tea that has vanilla almond flavors, there are probably better alternatives out there…

I have the loose leaf version of this tea. It is has pretty leaves with little nutty pieces throughout. I was excited as soon as I smelled this tea – it is almost identical to my beloved Almond Biscotti that I recently finished. The taste is pretty similar also, also Almond Biscotti is a bit more complex. I bet this would be great with milk and sweetener, just like Almond Biscotti was. Overall, this rating does not earn the spot of Almond Biscotti, but is a good substitute.

I’m finishing the last of this sample today. It is alright, nothing amazing about it though. If I ever buy another almond tea it would Teavana’s Almond Biscotti over this any day.

I think that I may have to put Teavana’s Almond Biscotti on my shopping list. I didn’t initially think that I would ever crave it, but I have been and drinking this just reminds me how inferior RoT’s Vanilla Almond is compared to Almond Biscotti. I’ve adjusted this tea’s rating down a little bit.

I forgot to log this from earlier. It was a bit astringent, more than usual. It just isn’t as good as Teavana’s Almond Biscotti.

This tea is even better with a little sweetener added. Starting to taste a lot more like Teavana’s Almond Biscotti. This is also a pretty good 3rd infusion.

It certainly has a strong almond smell and taste, but little vanilla, and really nothing that exciting going on. Might pair well with some cookies. I think it’s funny that the manufacturer suggests a strong brew could withstand pairing with milk, because milk challenged all vanilla notes in my cup. The brew is really rather weak.

I don’t know what these guys are on about. This tea is awesome the way it is. I used to have this every morning as a pick-me-up before class, and it was so much better than plain Assam, Darjeeling or other black teas.

The almond flavor is where it’s at. The Republic of Tea describes it as a ‘dessert tea’. It’s really sweet and flavorful, so, try it as that. It really puts a nice touch on the end of a good meal with friends.

Be careful not to oversteep it. If it’s bitter, it’s a disaster zone.

I love this tea. Absolutely adore it. I have yet to find one to top it.

One of my favourites from the Republic. I like it really strong, milky, and sweet, or weak and faintly sweet. Definitely a dessert tea or a comfort tea. Surprisingly it’s also good iced. (Blasphemy!)

Basically heaven in a cup. Possibly my very favorite vanilla blend.

I quite enjoy this. I think I had it first at Peet’s in Harvard Square?

Very vanilla-y. I know folks who live on this tea because they adore vanilla, it can be almost a maple syrup aroma when sweetened. I like it now and then as a break from other teas. Recommended to those who adore that flavor.

Until I ran into Teavana’s Almond Biscotti this was my favourite almond tea. It’s very, very good and I would still never turn it down.

Enh, it’s okay. I don’t really taste any almond, and I’ve had better vanilla tea than this. It does improve with a splash of milk. I probably won’t buy another tin when this one runs out.

i drink a lot of tea, but when it comes to dessert teas, this takes the cake! i add a spoonful of real maple syrup and top it off with light cream instead of milk and voila… a real treat!

The leaves are ground very finely and the nose has almond and lots of vanilla, so much so that I can almost taste how sweet it is. Nice golden brown liquor (before a splash of milk). The tea however, is mostly dominated by almond flavor with just some sugary vanilla tones peeking their way into the sip. It comes on strong with the almond but finishes with the touch of vanilla. Probably could have steeped longer, it’s a little weak in the knees right now and could use more power behind it. Could also be because it comes in tea bags (unfortunately I didn’t realize this when i bought it). Maybe multiple tea bags in one cup would do the trick?

I like the aroma a lot. The almond mixes interestingly well with the sweet vanilla smell…but at the end I can’t help but feel disappointed. There’s a little flavor from each of the elements in there; a little black tea, a little vanilla, a little almond – but nothing powerful enough to make a compelling mouthful. It just comes off as a little on the bland side. Maybe more tea, 2 bags instead of one? Maybe a longer steep time? I’m not sure, I’ll have to keep working with this one.

This is one of the first “fancy” teas I ever tried and it was a staple for years… I think I’m on my 4th tin of it by now. The appeal has kind of waned over the years, though. It’s a decent enough vanilla blend, but there are way more interesting/exciting ones available now. It’s very smooth and the almond kind of tones down the vanilla a bit but I think I like other teas better at this point.

Kind of re-discovered this while unpacking the rest of my tea collection over the weekend, and brought it to leave at work so I could finish the rest of it off. I went through a phase of loving this blend, and it seems I’ve outgrown it or fallen out of love with it because it just doesn’t hold the same charm now! It’s okay, but honestly not much better than mediocre. Very smooth and almond-y but otherwise not very notable. I tend to brew it for a while to make it as strong as possible.

This wasn’t disappointing today, but I think that’s because I knew what I was getting and lowered my expectations. Not too bad… still about half a tin to go through though!

Every time I try this, I want to lower my rating. It’s not that it’s horrible, I just remember it being so much better! This will definitely be the last tin I’ll buy of it—I’m always disappointed when I give it another try.

Still working my way through this last bit of the tin. I’ve definitely outgrown this blend, although it’s not bad. It was once my favourite vanilla tea (years ago) but I won’t repurchase it after I finish this up.

Thought I would try something a bit bland after my sugary chai mix first cup of the day. This fits… still has a slightly vanilla flavour so as not to clash with the chai aftertaste, but not too flavourful. Boring but appropriate, if that makes any sense!

This tastes really blah today, unfortunately! Disappointing.

Disappointingly boring. The leaves have a soothing fragrance, so I was looking forward to a nice cup. However it simply tastes like a bland black tea.

benben

An acceptable tea. I find it to be one of the weakest selections in the Republic of Tea brand. Neither the vanilla nor the almond really meld with the tea flavour.

Almond-flavored tea always sounds better than it tastes for me. This particular one isn’t bad, especially when paired with the vanilla Kashi cereal I had right before, but almond tea just ain’t my thang.

This is a great every day cup of tea. The vanilla lends a natural sweetness to the tea and the almonds impart a nuttiness which balances the sweetness beautifully. Most of the time I enjoy this as is, but when I need another level of warmth I’ll add a splash of milk for creaminess. The packaging suggests adding steamed milk for a tea latte and if I had a way to steam milk I’d try it.
