I have a ton of reading to do for class and I’m sooo not in the mood. So I dug deep into the recesses of my cupboard for something to motivate me and came up with a bag of this tea. This is the only bag I have. I received a sample of it when I ordered The Republic of Tea catalog last month. I’ve been saving the bag for a rainy day, and though it isn’t rainy outside, its perky pink packaging was enough to cheer me up to face 100+ pages of textbook reading.
The smell is great. The tart pomegranate is what I smell mostly. But it’s a happy-go-lucky sort of smell – not so tart as to call to mind spinster aunts. ;) The pomegranate is also very present in the taste of this tea. I don’t taste the vanilla nor the rooibos, but the tartness of fruit is tempered by a slightly sweet and very smooth quality. I was afraid it was going to taste like “fruit” juice (as in the kind of beverage with only 17% real juice), but there was none of that.
I drank the first infusion plain and that was pleasant enough. I added a spoonful of sugar to the second infusion, that was quite good too. I might attempt a third infusion, we’ll see. Overall, this was an amiable tea.
