Almond Cookie

Black Tea by The Spice and Tea Exchange

Warm & toasty cinnamon and almond mixed with fine black tea make for an incredible dessert tea. Perfect to curl up with on those chilly evenings.

Thanks so much to Indigobloom for sending me a generous sample of this tea.

I like cinnamon and almonds so I was pretty sure I’d like this too. It smells incredibly like a cookie! It’s sweet and nutty and even a little bit fruity, not sure where that’s coming from but I like it. I’m having this as my after lunch treat with a bit of soymilk and it’s yummy for a dessert tea. It looks like this was discontinued, too bad it is kinda tasty. Like I need more tea! Well of course I do!

Another THANK YOU to MandyB for this blend in the mail today! YAY! MandyB has been talking about Almond Cookies lately and I haven’t tried any of them so she sent me some! :) The Dry Leaf and Steeped Leaf both smell about the same which rarely seems to happen in my opinion…they tend to morph in some way…but not this one! I can certainly taste the almond but it blends REALLY well with the black tea. I can also taste – what seems to resemble – a pinch of ‘cookie’…it’s truly amazing! I usually don’t go ga-ga over nutty type teas but I have found lately that I like the majority of the ones I have tried. This one has been moved to the top of the list. In addition…I love the way this blend looks…black tea leaves with sliced almonds with orange and red slivers for extra color and uniqueness. What a FUN, delicious, creative, and guilty-pleasure type tea! Thanks again, Mandy!

After today I am officially out of this and I will miss it A LOT!!! I hope I can wither re-order it or find another brand locally or regionally that is just as good. I will miss you dear friend!

I’m seriously SHOCKED I am enjoying this tea this much…I really do like it alot tho! I am really trying to stretch my little bit left. I think I have 1 more attempt after today. :(

Needed a Morning Treat…this fit the bill. However, the cookie taste was a little less than prior attempts but I am ok with that…will do a resteep for longer after this cuppa. Still enjoy regardless!

Had 3 cups this morning. After working my ass off all of yesterday – thought I would treat myself! YAY! LOVE IT!

Infusions 2 & 3 – good (got my tea order so I will be switching gears! YAY!)

2nd steep…cookie!

2nd Steep…near the same in color. Scent is more ‘cookie’ than almond this time but still pleasant, indeed! The taste is like before with a bit of an earthy taste added in. Still very good! Very strong black tea taste for the 2nd steep! Steeped about 4 minutes this time. Thumbs up!

I’m continuing to enjoy this one. So much so that I am almost out. I am going to resteep as much as possible today. I should have one more steeping/amount/attempt left after this.

This (unfortunately discontinued, but Teavana sells a suspiciously similar variety I’ll have to try..) wonderfully sweet tea has to be one of the most heavenly scents I’ve ever smelled. The tea itself is gorgeous to look at, with bits of red cinnamon and white almond slivers amongst a generous amount of black tea.. honestly, I could just leave this tea in a bowl on my table to look at and smell and be happy without bothering to taste it.

A tad bland on its own, a teaspoon of honey and a dollop of milk (almond milk in particular does the trick!) makes this tea live up to its look and scent. There is little tea flavor to be found here, the creamy vanilla flavor of the cinnamon and almond completely dominating both the nose and the taste, but that’s not a bad thing at all for a dessert tea. I’d prefer this to a real almond cookie, honestly. It’s particularly good on a snowy winter night but I find myself making a cup of this once a week even in the middle of our humid DC summers.

This tea is great! however not a staple for me. It’s very sweet but asides from the almond flavour, does not carry much else. It’s pretty much a cup of liquid, almond cookie… which in my opinion, is a rather simple flavour. That said, when I’m craving that something sweet, it really hits the spot. I prefer it with some milk, and a touch of sugar to enhance the almond. It smells yummy as well of course!

Half a teaspoon of sugar in the raw and a dash of skim brought out the almond cookie notes wonderfully. It’s not a very complex tea, but lightly sweet and tasty. We’ll see how it grows on me.

The more I drink this, the less I like it. The flavor just doesn’t hold up to the expressive, sweet aroma of the dry tea. So sad!
