Origin: India

Plucking Season: Spring

Introduction: Bergamot is a Turkish name given to a pear shaped fruit, ‘Citrus Bergamia’, popularily used in Earl Grey tea.
Darjeeling Bergamot is a blend of light, crisp, Darjeeling black tea and the essence of Bergamot. Very aromatic, clear and smooth. Refreshing as an iced tea.

Ingredients: Organic Black Tea Leaves, Natural Bergamot Essence

Certified Organic by: Quality Assurance International (QAI)

In general, Darjeeling teas are lighter and more delicate than other Indian black teas. Therefore, we recommend using mineral or spring water 180 to 190 F in temperature. The lower temperature water allows for a full bodied brew with a balanced sweetness and astringency. Because of its smaller leaf and astringent qualities, it is also best to use a shorter steeping time than with other Indian Black teas. Three to four minutes is usually sufficient, slightly longer if you wish to use a little milk.

I love all things bergamot so this was bound to be a winner – and I was not disappointed. Not as good as an earl grey, but considering I haven’t been a big fan of many darjeeling teas before, I think the addition of bergamot made it far more enjoyable. Preferred this as a cold brew.
