Vanilla Almond Black

Black Tea by The Tea Nation

Black Tea
Black tea is most commonly produced in South Asia and Africa. It has a stronger flavor than most other teas and also has higher caffeine content. Black tea is prepared from the leaves of Camellia Sinensis and it is the most fermented of all teas. Black tea from Ceylon Tea is primarily produced using the orthodox method, where tea leaves are first harvested and then rolled to small pieces and fermented. The fermented tea leaves are dried using fire kilns. This process gives black tea its characteristic strong, full-bodied flavor and deep brown color.
Round Bags
Round tea bags are a recent innovation in tea bags. They look clean and easy to handle. We use pure white filter paper. Since we use only high quality tea you will not see any brown color on the tea bag.
Vanilla Almond
Vanilla was completely unknown in the Old World until sixteenth century Spanish explorers who arrived on the Gulf Coast of Mexico found and gave it its name. The sailors took vanilla with them as they journeyed through Africa and Asia. In old medicinal literature, vanilla is described as an aphrodisiac and even as a remedy for fevers. While these purported uses have never been scientifically validated, it has been shown that vanilla does increase levels of catecholamines. While almonds are native to Iran, they have also been used in China as a key ingredient in a popular dessert when they are mixed with milk and served hot. In Indian cuisine, almonds are the base ingredient for pasanda-style curries. We have blended these two complimentary flavors with a light liquoring, high grown Pure Ceylon tea, to create a soothing blend that is a delicious breakfast or afternoon tea

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea!

The aroma that is wafting from my teacup at the moment is quite yummy – it is very vanilla-almond-esque! It almost smells like dessert!

The flavor is also quite nice. The black tea is strong and astringent, the almonds taste sweet and toasty, and the vanilla is smooth and creamy. I’m loving this tea and I’m surprised that this much flavor came from a teabag!

Finishing off the last of this that TeaEqualsBliss sent me. (Thanks!)

I really love the aroma of this tea. Yum! Sweet and creamy. This cup is not as astringent as the last one was. Nice!

Before steeping – smells like Vanilla and Almond…more Almond than Vanilla
After steeping – smells like both Vanilla and Almond – about equally.
Color is dark brown

This one really surprised me. Just when I think I have The Tea Nation figured out…they throw me a curve! This is a nicely flavored black tea…VERY smooth! The Vanilla and Almond are both present when it comes to taste – I think there maybe a little more vanilla than Almond. Smooth all the way thru the sip on to the aftertaste! Nice Flavored Black for the morning!

Bagged Bonanza Morning #2 – Tea 2:
I’m having one last cup before sending the last 2 bags to Azzrian.

I think this is one of their better bagged teas. I can taste both the vanilla and the almond in addition to a mellower black tea base. See other notes.
