From The Tea Spot

A single jasmine flower is included in each mini green pu’erh tea brick. Subtle jasmine notes float on top of an earthy green pu’erh base. Steeps 3-4 times. Begin with a 1-minute steeping using near boiling water, increasing each subsequent steeping by 30s. These jasmine tuo chas (tea bricks) are a perfect way to keep up with a healthy green tea when traveling!

First, I want to say that the Tuochas don’t look like the picture. I didn’t see a flower, or even a flower petal on it. I even unwrapped another one, just to see if it had one, and it didn’t.

Otherwise, it was ok. Basically, green tea with a slight alfalfa taste, no real jasmine flavor, at least not that I noticed.

Another one I snagged from a teabox a WHILLLE ago. I guess this is a raw pu-erh tuocha that should be jasmine? I didn’t see, smell or taste any jasmine. But since I usually expect a somewhat bitter raw pu-erh experience whenever I drink raw pu-erh, this one was surprisingly unoffending, if unoffending means there was hardly any flavor at all. The cup was a bright orange both steeps, so it was certainly steeping.. it’s just such a plain flavor. Disappointing but at least it isn’t bitter! The Jasmine petals tea I had from Tea Spot a while ago certainly had jasmine flavors.
Steep #1 // 20 minutes after boiling // 1-2 min steep
