Recent scientific evidence appears to show green teas can even help fight certain cancers, strengthen bones and teeth and increase longevity1. Green tea was a beverage favored by Minagawa Yone of Akaike, Fukuoka, Japan. Between January 29, 2007 and August 13, 2007, Minagawa Yone was the world’s oldest living person. Classified as a supercentenarian, Minagawa reached the ripe old age of 114. We can’t make the claim that it was the Sencha alone that kept her going, certainly a combination of diet, good genes and a healthy dose of luck also came into play, but the tea certainly didn’t hurt.
