Pure Chamomile

Herbal Tea by Twinings

Camomile herb teas has long been a European favorite, with its light clean flavor and soothing effect. One of the most widely used herbs in the world today, camomile was first discovered by the Egyptians who dedicated it to their gods for its many useful properties. The Greeks also used camomile extensively, naming it “ground apple” for the apple-like aroma of the herb. Enjoy the soothing and calming benefits of Twinings Camomile Herbal Tea.

I am sorry about this – I have made this confusing. I couldn’t believe this was not on here, and then AFTER I submitted the tea entry, I realized why it was not in here…“Chamomile” is spelled differently (from everywhere else I have ever seen it) as “Camomile” There is already an entry.

I do not know how to delete this Tea Entry…Sorry again.

See my actual tasting note under the correctly entered tea – Pure Camomile.

It got to quarter to nine tonight and I just really wanted chamomile tea, so I picked up a box of this from the Co-Op. Usually I would have wanted whole chamomile flowers (they look so pretty brewing in a glass pot!) and not teabags, but I ran out last week :(

As far as chamomile goes, you can’t really get it wrong. This definitely wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was good enough for me. It produces a really beautiful golden liquor and smells absolutely wonderful. The only fault I could find was that the taste is rather flat – maybe I’ve just been spoiled by some really fantastic chamomiles in the past, but this tea doesn’t have the same complexity of flavour that I’m used to.

I was forced to use this when I ran out of Loose leaf Chamomile from Davids and Teaopia. It was a sad… sad day…

However I would not let my relaxing night time routine stop because I used all my loose leaf, I looked in the cupboard, and there was Twinings.

I do not know much about Twinings, this was the first time I have had one of their teas.

My expectations weren’t too high, so I boiled the water as usual and let steep for 5minutes. I was surprised to taste a modest earthiness to it, which brought back memories of Davids chamomile, it was not as exciting as Davids, but it was a good chamomile tea.

Smooth and Relaxing – Those are my guidelines for Chamomile teas (and Herbal sometimes). Since it was both, I found one folly. It was rather weak, and I much preferred other chamomiles.

But go for it, it is a great tea none the less.

The taste and aroma is rather flat compared to other chamomile teas I’ve had in the past. The color is strong golden color, and there are no artificial fragrance added, but I wish there was more body to the fragrance.
