From Twinings

Once upon a time, Chai was drunk only by the royalty in India. But word got out about its spicy, soothing flavour & soon the streets were filled with the distinctive scent of cinnamon, ginger and cloves.

Chai is perfect at any time of day,but particularly in the afternoon. Invite some friends round and share the secret all over again.

I blame TheTeaFairy. I had to skillet toast a PBJ this evening. I had it with Twinings Chai. It stood up to the challenge better than I imagined. Maybe someday I will actually learn to appreciate chai. This bagged one is nicely flavored with cardamom and clove. it is lighter on the cinnamon and ginger. Not bad. One day soon I will have to try a stove top version prepared with milk.

Stephanie

Heck yeah grilled PBJ! Also good? Grilled PB and banana :)

K S

Oh Mama, he says in his best Elvis. Must try.

Suziqzer

OK, so I’ve never had a grilled PBJ or peanut butter banana sandwich.. Sounds like a couple pot things to try! I love me a good peanut butter banana sandwich :)

Fjellrev

Oh my, I have all the ingredients to make a grilled PB and banana. Sounds awesome! I’m sure a dab of honey wouldn’t hurt either.

mrmopar

Don’t forget peanut butter with apple butter.

Suziqzer

Peanut butter with apple butter?!?! That’s a new one to me too.

I had two cups of this at my neighbors house today and was actually quite impressed, so I’m surprised by some of the comments & low ratings it’s been given here ..

A medium strength black that doesn’t get lost amongst some rich creamy vanilla aspects, and a nice amount of ginger to round it all off .. No bitterness at all, even though the bag was left in my cup for a long time ..

For a cheap, bagged, supermarket available cuppa I found this to be remarkably good! And I wouldn’t hesitate to offer it to guests, or drink more myself – in fact I might pop back over tomorrow for another cup :)

Well done Twinings – so much better than I expected!

So, it’s administrative assistants appreciation week at work, and we get treats. Today was a coffee/tea break from Pete’s Frootique, and I snagged a bagged chai from Twinings, I’m always wary of bagged greens, and that was all that was left at the time. On the plus side, I got gruit and muffins!

I’ve already burned my tongue on this poor thing, but it’s definitely a decent bagged chai. I find it better than the (mediocre at best) PC brand bagged chai, but they just never capture the deliciousness of proper chai for me. This’ll do, but I’d rather my 52teas order arrived so I could have some of my Extra Bold Masala Chai instead.

That said, it’s nice to be treated at work! Thanks, work!

The Purrfect Cup

I wish my work did that. As it is I’m sure they won’t remember that tomorrow is admin professionals day.

I received this today in a packet of teas from K S. This Chai is richer tasting and more aromatic than Twining’s Christmas tea, which is similar. The Christmas tea contains artificial flavors, and tastes somewhat artificial in comparison to this Chai. I can’t really taste the black tea underneath the spices, though I didn’t really expect to with a Chai. Much more flavorful than Numi’s Golden Chai that I drank this morning. I think it is because I can taste all the spices in this Chai: cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and cardamom, an not just the cardamom in Numi’s Chai.

Just burned my tongue drinking a combo of one bag of this and one bag of tazo chai, just thought I’d share…the combo tastes good, despite my pain!

Brewed extra strong, and heated soymilk and sugar added, this is quite tasty. I am always looking for more spice, and this doesn’t quite knock my socks off. It’s a pretty good value and very convenient for when I don’t have time to make chai from scratch.

Not outstanding.
It smells good, but it’s not the best chai I tried.
Using it to soften my biscuits.

Marie

LOL – happy you found a purpose for a not so exciting chai.

This is the first beverage I have made with my GORGEOUS new VIOLET coloured personal Keurig. I have to say, I’m actually lowering the rating on this, which surprises me, sine I LOVE Chai. But this is the truth—bagged Chai, even a fairly good brand like Twinings, cannot compare to loose leaf Chai. And so, that being said, I am lowering the rating on this because of that. And also, because it doesn’t taste very good without milk and/or cream, of which I have none at the moment.

However, I should note that this tea isn’t BAD, it’s just not as flavorful as some Chai teas I have had in the past, and again, I don’t have everything to make it to my taste. It is still very good though—a very warm, pleasant mouth feel, and the spices are all there. It’s a good cup, in one of my favorite mugs: “Life is not about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” And it’s a warm cup, which is nice in the chill. So, I’m happy! :-) I hope all of you had a lovely holiday, and I hope you are all enjoying your favorite cuppas, as well as new ones! Adventure never hurt anybody, and life is more fun with a little bit of adventure.

I’m not putting a steeping time because it was a K-cup, so…it had no steeping time!

I recieved a few bags of this chai as part of a gift, along with a tea pot and two other tea samples. It is among the teas that I keep in my “Hot Beverage Station” at work. I decided to finally try this tea yesterday, and again today.

For some reason I remember it being better yesterday – perhaps I gave the water a bit of a stir before pouring? It seems like it was stronger yesterday than it is today; which isn’t to say that it’s very strong. Rather, it’s very gentle, instead of being overpowering (as compared to the STASH brand I also have, which is stronger). It possesses more aroma than flavour – I can smell the lovely spices of the chai, but the actual taste is rather thin and flat.

Strength aside, this tea is delightfully free of bitterness and lends itself well to sweetening. I normally add milk and sugar to my tea – a tiny bit of milk to ease the bitterness, and sugar to sweeten the deal, so to speak. But a lack of milk had me adding sugar only, with favourable results. The flavour of this chai is so mild that adding milk would probably have been a mistake.

Recommended for those who enjoy milder flavours.

I just got back from two weeks in Mexico (I know, poor me), during which time I drank a lot of this at the two resorts I stayed at. (I really need to invest in some travel teaware so I can enjoy loose-leaf teas away from home and work.)

This is a decent bagged chai, but a bit tame in its flavours. Sometimes the water I received to steep it in wasn’t hot enough, but even when it was, I was still hoping for a bit more kick. I wouldn’t hesitate to drink it again, though, in a pinch.
