From Twinings

Twinings has been blending my family tea for years. Today, I am proud to continue this tradition with the tea celebrated throughout the world known as Twinings Earl Grey. Legend has it, that my ancestor, the second Earl Grey, was presented with this exquisite recipe by an envoy on his return from China. They are fine black tea expertly blended with the citrus fruit flavor of bergamot, to deliver an uplifting tea with a unique floral aroma and refreshing taste.

I joined a pride group at school this semester. At our first meeting we made our own felt door banners that are similar to the banners that other bigger clubs have made at our school. So this is a school thing. Our banners said GLOW because our pride group is called GLOW (Gays, Lesbians, or Whatever)

So, I had put my banner on my door on sunday and everything was nice. It was red with a pink banner with the letters spelling GLOW in the middle on some brown pieces of felt and a little rainbow ribbon in the corner. This morning, I came back from the bathroom and noticed that my banner was missing. Of course, I was upset. Eventually I made another sign out of paper and colored pencil (this time the background is rainbow)

So, after a day like this, sometimes you just need a big MUG of comforting tea.

GLOW. I like that. Silly people. I like your blog, too. I need to get a new one. I always get lazy and neglect them.

Jenn

Well, maybe your GLOW banner was so beautiful that some envious (possibly closeted) individual has stolen it for their own use. Only a very small, sad, and confused person would feel stronger by stealing another person’s club banner. You just keep on glowing sista :)

Ashley Bain

That’s what I was thinking, Jenn!

MegWesley

Awe! Thanks guys. That makes me feel better.

Jenn

Good :) You GLOW girl! Very punny…

Jenn

Ashley, we know what’s up. Great minds…

Sometimes… sometimes this is all I need. <3

This was the tea that I drank every day, all day, before I discovered loose leaf.

KittyLovesTea

Sure loose leaf tea is superior to bagged BUT there is nothing like drinking the tea that made you fall in love with it as a whole. Twinings Earl Grey (original) does that for me too :)

Cavocorax

Yeah it wouldn’t surprise me if this one was a gateway tea for a lot of people. :P At work we buy it by the case, which is part of the reason I drank so much of it – convenience, and better than coffee during my breaks.

Oh wow…this tea is pretty darn good, even though it’s from a teabag and decaf. I wasn’t even keeping track of how long I steeped it, but I think it steeped pretty long, in boiling water…yet not a bit of bitterness! I added in some milk and Splenda, and the tea is strong enough to handle it. It tastes creamy, orangey, sugary, and flowery. It’s late, and I apologize if this note is just blah. But the tea itself? Good enough that it’s making me feel better since my kitty, who peed all over her own winter coat fur bloomers, backed up into my leg 5 minutes ago and got pee on me. :(

(Side note….should I take her for a haircut? It’s the middle of winter, but my apartment is really warm…)

Sounds like a haircut is in order to me!!!

Auggy

Aww, poor kitty. My oldest can’t really groom herself anymore and she’s long haired so we keep her shaved. In the winter she wears sweaters.

S

Wait wtf my comment got messed up… I typed Ashes (less than three heart) and then that Wendy is normally good at keeping clean, and she managed to pee in the box, but it’s icky how her back legs got soaked.

S

Was definitely not saying that Ashes is icky!! She’s like Wendy’s older twin sister :)

Auggy

Hehe – no worries! I know you love the kitties! :)

S

By the way, the fact that kitty sweaters exist is making me want to shave my cat, just for the hell of it. :)

LENA

lol…poor kitty! both of my cats are short hair, so i’m going to give them an extra hug for not ever getting pee on me. glad your tea kept you in good spirits.

Auggy

Shanti, I’ll tell you a secret – it’s really a doggie sweater. Shhh! Don’t let Ashes know!

I’ve been having at least one cup of this every night before I sleep, and it is incredibly relaxing. I can’t get over how mellow this tea is, no matter how long you steep it for. An excellent blend!

I got this sample and two other teas from a promotion that is over for now.

Earl Grey makes me happy and I thought this would help me want to get things done that needed to be done but not keep me up all night cause I need to get up early.

The tea bag smells of light peppery poultry seasoning. Normally I steep Earl Grey about 3-4 min, I left this one in because of how weak it tasted and I thought it may improve later. After about 10 min it taste stronger and is drinkable. It taste lemony and smells like a lemon scented cleaning product.

The good news is I’m excited to wake up in the morning to start my day with the cup of Earl Gray I wanted to have tonight.

My go-to tea almost every single night. Earl Grey is my weakness and being able to drink it a lot and not worry about caffeine is a great thing. This is probably what Captain Picard drank so often since he never seemed too jittery.

With a healthy pour of milk, this is an excellent nightcap. Good for when my focus is on something else and I’m not paying much attention to the tea.

Steep Information:
Amount: 1 Teabag, 2.1g
Water:154° 8 ounce hot spigot water
Steep Time: a little over 4 minutes, I started with 2 and kept adding
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: not much smell from the bag
Steeped Tea Smell: not much smell from the tea
Flavor: brown water, no flavor
Liquor: dark brown

This came as part of a gift and is of unknown age and history so I am refraining from rating this tea. I had very low expectations to begin with as I look down on decaffeinated teas (caffeine free is a different story) but I was expecting bitter not flavorless.
