I literally cried out in dispair when my alarm went off. Its raining (yay!), and I really wanted to stay asleep and cozy in bed.
This is a morning when I feel like pouring the tea over my head might be just as useful in waking up as drinking it.
Still, I will drink it. Easier on the hair.

keychange

I had such a similar reaction to waking up this morning. ugh.

A HUGE thank you to momo for the two boxes she so generously ran out and picked up for me, then sent to me via USPS! I made my first cup after returning from the post office, and oh… it’s exactly what I was wanting! And the peppermint/spearmint combo really helps with the cold I have. So yummy! Not bitter in the slightest, and very smooth. The mints are not so IN YOUR FACE as with some peppermint teas I’ve tried(I’m looking at you, Stash!), but rather neatly blended with the black tea base. Twinings, how I love you :)

I started to say, “You just can’t ruin Twinings,” but after my recent away-from-home experience I’ll amend it to “You can’t ruin bagged or looseleaf Twinings.” Putting it in a K-cup…that’s a whole ’nother story.

CHAroma

This is a good one! Glad you like it too and hope you feel better soon.

Now I’m curious to see if I can find it locally.

IrishBreakfastLass

I can’t find it at all around here. I have several stores right near me(within a 30 minute or so drive) including two Wal-marts, two Ingles, a Quality Foods, a Kmart, and a Big Lots. I could not find this one at ANY of those. I thought Ingles was the way to go, since they carry some of the other Twinings Premium black teas, but no. It was so disappointing.
I agree with you about not being able to ruin Twinings. I have not had the pleasure of k-cups, so I don’t know about that, but I’ll take your word for it!
CHAroma, thanks! I’m already feeling better, and I attribute it to getting this yummy tea. lol

gmathis

I envy the folks from more urban settings that talk about the nifty varieties they can find in-store. Here in far SW MO, Wal-Mart selection stinks, and Price Cutter (a Kroger cousin) is inconsistent. Lots of Yogi’s in the organic section, but it’s potluck down the conventional tea aisle.

Babble

@gmathis – I actually found a couple boxes of this at my local Big Lots here in Clearwater, FL. But big lots is soooo hit or miss with products.

Okay, so I’m a little crazy. But you probably already knew that.

I’m trying to lose weight for my wedding. Part of my plan is to drink tea whenever I’m craving something bad like sweets or snack foods. I really really want to buy some new bagged teas to take to work. But I have so much tea! I really can’t justify buying any more.

So, I’ve made a pact with myself. I can buy new tea when I use up all my old tea bags that are sitting around and collecting dust (not literally, eww! Just thinking about dusty tea gives me the heebie-jeebies). Anyway, that’s how I find myself drinking this Twining’s Pure Mint Black Tea.

It’s really not a bad tea, but it’s also really not what I want right now. I’m thinking a floral oolong would hit the spot nicely. Of course, there’s no bagged floral oolong tea in my desk drawer, so I’m just going to have to get over that.

I added a little bit of sweetener and skim milk. At first, the mint was so surprising that it confused my tongue! It’s not like I didn’t know there’s mint in here. I don’t know how to describe what happened. It just took me by surprise. Maybe it’s because I haven’t had a mint tea in so long that it literally flabbergasted my taste buds!

Either way, I won’t miss this too much when it’s gone. The only reason I won’t re-stock it is because I want to try new things. But it’s still a great tea, and I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a mint-flavored black tea!

I think pretty much every bride tries to lose a bit of weight before the wedding. It was actually great for me since I needed motivation to start exercising again. Half a year later, I’m still running 2 or 3 times a week. Though I’ve stopped the weight training and crunches. Hmm….

As for your tea situation, you can get disposable or reusable tea filters that you fill yourself. That way, you can drink your loose leaf even at work. I kept a bunch of loose leafs at my desk and a pack of tea filters. Here’s an idea of your options:

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions, Mercuryhime! :)

Thanks CHAroma for the sample!!
Now this was a mint black tea experience I’ve never had before. Rather sweet on it’s own and very potent! I can taste the spear and pepper separately, and I think I prefer them on their own, atleast when mixed with a black base?
Almost overpowering of the base. But… it’s mint, so I don’t mind.
I heart mint!

Nik

“…the spear and pepper…” [chuckle] =)

hehe it made me laugh when typing that out to :P

I’m glad you enjoyed it! :)

Another sample from Twinings. It seems like I will never get through all of these teabags. I like minty teas, so this one looked good. I was a little let down by it. There’s an odd earthy/musty note in the black tea, but it does disappear when milk and sugar are added. The mint flavor is just a little thin tasting, and reminds me slightly of toothpaste. Overall, it’s not a terrible tea but I won’t be purchasing a box of it.

-Standard teabag with a tag.
-Teabag smells faintly of sweet mint. Tea liquor aroma is of fresh mint with a hint of black tea.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy dark brown color.
-Slightly earthy flavor with a minty finish. Cooling mint aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. Unpleasant earthy taste with a refreshing mintiness. Mint flavor is a little thin.

I have always wanted a standard mint tea made with BLACK tea (I can’t stand herbal) and this is just that. Nothing special, but decent black tea with a strong mint flavour. I found this while in Vermont, but I hope they’ll carry it here too so I can buy more when I run out!

This tea starts out with a spearmint flavor and then ends on a peppermint note – I really don’t taste the black tea at all. The flavor is good and strong even though the expiry date is this month. On the whole, however, I prefer Numi’s Moroccan Mint.

This was a nice change of pace for me. I haven’t been playing with mint teas lately, but this one caught my eye because it isn’t simply mint and it actually HAS tea in it :) It was pretty tasty. I would have liked cream and sugar but it wasn’t at my disposal.

mmm, sweet and minty black tea, got this as a sample in a box of Earl Grey by Twinings. Mint is fresh and soothing, the black tea is strong and caffeinated.

It’s definitely what it claims to be – a simple combination of mint and black tea. Very strong mint flavor – it is fairly well balanced with the tea flavor.
