Jasmine Silver Needles ZJ97

White Tea by Upton Tea Imports

An exquisite offering for the Jasmine tea enthusiast. The white tea base is an extra-fine plucking composed of select leaf buds, some as a set with the small first leaf. A judicious scenting with jasmine blossoms yields a mellow, complex cup with sublime jasmine flavor and aroma.

I have tried a few different jasmine silver needle type teas, and of the ones that I’ve tried, this one is my least favorite. I am not exactly sure what it is about this tea, but, it isn’t as good as it could be (based upon previous experiences).

The jasmine flavor is overpowering and too sharp and even bitter tasting, while the white tea flavor is nearly non-existent as it has been overwhelmed by the jasmine.

This is quite disappointing, actually. Not one I’d recommend to others.

Not too bad. I agree with this other review that I’ve had better Jasmine Silver Needles before. The first time I tried it was from Adagio and I was blown away. Imperial Tea Court makes an excellent one too. This one is fine, but not my favorite. I think the blending on other jasmine white needles is better. Imperial Tea Court probably takes the cake on this by a long shot.

Smells sweet and jasminey in the bag (of course). I didn’t think the jasmine was too strong or bitter like one of the other reviews. Like most white teas, I found this to be a light, clean tea.

Excellent. Smooth and not too floral. I get overwhelmed by jasmine easily, but this had a very nice, rounded delivery. Tea flavor is pretty subtle, but the whole thing melds together so well it didnt really bother me.

Advice: My tea came with jasmine flowers still in it. TAKE THESE OUT BEFORE YOU STEEP. It brews muuuch smoother that way. The first time I steeped it with them in I got a weird bitter flavor.
