Tea of the morning…..

Man, this is so good after the few days of trying to like the inexpensive Keemun. (And we all know life is too short to be drinking tea that is ‘meh’.) Roasty, toasty, and sweet, with light hints of cocoa and honey. On the shopping list it goes!

Tea of the morning……

I needed a tasting of this one to see if it might lend itself to my Franken-Breakfast tea blend. Really, it is very good on its own, and I think I will just drink this one plain. I am thinking it will also be good iced, as my cup from this morning has cooled and it still tastes very malty, chocolatey, and complex. The leaves on this one brew up huge for a black tea. Very good!

Usual teapot method. For only 4 tsp of tea, my infuser basket was nearly full to the top!

Tea of the afternoon…..

I am needing a huge pickup this afternoon. So far this is helping a little, but there is always so much to do in December….. I love the malty cocoa-eyness of this one. It also makes me want to try a few more Yunnans…..

Steeped by the usual teapot method.

After drinking some fine Yunnans lately I was wondering how this would compare. It was dark and a bit spicy. I was also getting a slight cocoa sweetness. This was a nice way to start the day. For the price its well worth it. I am sure it will be better next time….

I haven’t had this in a while and I forgot how well-balanced and enjoyable this is for an everyday tea. More spicy than sweet, with a hint of raisin and cinnamon. Seems immune to bitterness.

Tea time! I haven’t had yunnan black tea in far too long (like 2 weeks) so here we go. Smells fresh in the bag, more of a clean, crisp cocoa scent than the usual deeper chocolate I get in yunnans if that makes any sense. Right when the leaves hit boiling water a rich tea aroma was in the air.

Taste: This is surprisingly light and clean on taste and mouthfeel considering how dark it brewed up. I find it has that refreshing classic tea taste for the most part, with a little toastiness. I usually prefer teas like this iced, but it is good hot as well. This one is even better with some sugar.
