Even brewing 3 min at 190, this tea was a bit too astringent for me to appreciate its flavor. But the flavor is similar to other Yunnans I’ve tasted. This tea does not have as much gold in the dry leaf as most others I’ve tried.

Black Tea by Upton Tea Imports
These well-twisted leaves are beautiful, with a profusion of golden tips. The delightful cup has a full body, creamy texture and notes of honey. This Yunnan classic is a testament to the ancient craft of tea making.

Funny, I didn’t get any astringency from this cup, even with a 4.5 minute brew time with near boiling water. Instead, like El Monstro, I found this to be a fruity yunnan with medium body, a nice change from the very rich yunnans I’ve been drinking lately.
In the package it smells like fruit preserves (good ones, I keep sticking my nose in the bag, haha).
Taste: I get the normal Yunnan tea flavors out of this. This particular one seems to be slightly more floral/fruity/sweet tasting than the average Yunnan black, for me at least. That sweetness lingers in the aftertaste, which is probably my favorite thing about this tea. I added sugar anyhow and that really brings out the fruit preserve-like notes. I made it kind of light this time, need to remember to use more leaves next time. This particular order had a good amount of golden leaves in it.
