From Verdant Tea

Wang Yanxin’s iconic wild Yunnan white tea blended with night jasmine blossoms has been one of our most popular teas for over a decade! Notes of luscious creamy jasmine, juicy strawberry, eucalyptus, and whipped cream.

This spring harvest pre-Qing Ming white tea is traditionally scented and made with Da Bai varietal white tea. This white tea is not sprayed with artificial oils or aromas. Instead, it is dried together with fresh jasmine blossoms scattered among the buds, allowing the natural aroma of the jasmine to absorb over several days into the tea itself. The process of adding fresh wild Yunnan jasmine blossoms is repeated six times over six days to get a full rich and creamy infusion that holds its intense sweetness and natural potency over many steepings. The creamy dessert-like Yunnan silver needle white tea is the perfect delicate pairing with Lincang’s local luscious jasmine.

Sourced By Wang Yanxin
Small farmers and micro-workshops across Yunnan are often denied the chance to show off their incredible work, overshadowed by big labels. Wang Yanxin believes in small producers, helping them reach a wide audience without big brand labels.

The result is pristine, hand-finished tea, aged offerings and regional collaborations that inspire new styles. Wang Yanxin has devoted her career and formidable palate to these collaborations, searching far and wide for the very best.

I used to love jasmine tea. I still do, but in my exploration of so many new teas jasmine kind of fell by the way side. A friend recently got me some jasmine pearls and that has me digging for other jasmine in my cupboard. That’s when this one turned up. It’s really nice. Very smooth with a light sweetness. It has that crisp distinct jasmine flavor without being bitter or harsh. It’s very lovely!

I should really dig this one out of my cupboard too, poor tea. This seems like a nice winter day tea (but I love jasmine teas even more in the summer).

LuckyMe

This and Verdant’s Golden Jasmine are the only jasmine teas I care to keep around anymore.

LuckyMe – have you ever tried any of Teavivre’s jasmine teas? They are the besssstttt.

Dustin

Have either of you tried any of the jasmine/mandarin tea combos? Lupicia has one that is okay and Mariage Freres has one that is pretty nice. It’s great as an iced tea. At some point I’ll have to try those others you mentioned.

I haven’t even heard of jasmine/mandarin together but it sounds really really good.

Dustin

I was told once that it’s a favored Chinese flavor combo. The tea rep said that when Chinese people taste the tea they pick out the mandarin as the main flavor, maybe because it’s a flavor they are more familiar with and when other people try it the jasmine seems dominant. Jasmin Mandarin is the name of the MF version.

Jasmine teas were my favorite for a very long time. Before I really had any idea about the world of tea, I knew I loved the flavor and aroma of jasmine. Perhaps I got sick of the flavor, because up until last week, I just didn’t enjoy jasmine like I used to. Now, I’m on a jasmine kick again. I started making iced jasmine green tea bobas at home, and they have been really hitting the spot. I’ve started enjoying jasmine quite a bit again.
This is incredibly fragrant and flavorful. The honey and cooked fruit aroma combined with the jasmine is intoxicating. There is a bit of an acid finish that makes this short of perfect. Still enjoyable though!

Sipdown 100/395!! Triple digits y’all!!

I finished this off dumping the rest of the leaf from my sample into my ingenuiTEA, and I only gravitated towards this tea as a sort of stomach settler, as my boyfriend had been up through the night ill and I wasn’t feeling so great myself when I got home from work. I drank it in bed catching up on Strictly and was super surprised by how delicious it was. I expected to like it, since I am a fan of jasmine teas, but I was not prepared for how natural and delicate the jasmine flavour was, or how juicy and almost fruity the white tea was. It’s super flavourful, and I managed three steeps Western style without the flavour profile changing too much. I think it would last even longer if I’d treated it better, too. Definitely going on my repurchase list for when I’m finally done this no-buy. But, still, 100 down, I guess?

This is kind of odd, and not what I expected. I normally don’t get a tea with these kind of notes, but it was a free sample.

Jasmine, obviously, hits you in the face as you sip it. It’s a little too strong for me. But then there’s a bit of honeysuckle and melon.

Probably a really good tea for someone who enjoys these flavors, but not for me.

Matu

Jasmine teas normally give me a pretty righteous headache. I think it’s mostly the aroma.

Daylon R Thomas

I love Jasmine and was not a huge fan of it.

Hell, I’m a hypocrite and gave it a 90 two years ago. And I said some really nice things about it….oh well, my buds are a little bit different now. I’ve actually gotten pickier with white teas lately though. Some whites that I have now just don’t do it for me. As for that one, it had a weird banana thing going in with the notes, but I used 2.5-3 grams gong fu in 8 oz. Not sure if you care anyway lol

Hoálatha

Usually me too, matu. This wasn’t a headache inducing one, but I feel like it was close to being so.

It’s definitely not one I’m going to get again, Daylon. But the fruit thing was just…weird. Especially when paired with the jasmine.

I usually dislike jasmine teas, as the jasmine flavor always over-powers any other flavor. This tea, on the other hand, has just a hint of jasmine. It is incredibly smooth, which is a quality I really enjoy in white teas. The liquor of the first steep is quite pretty – almost a rose gold color. The first and second steeps taste very similar, then the third and fourth bring out more jasmine flavor and a lighter liquor.

I got this tea as part of Verdant’s 5 teas for $5 an embarrassingly long time ago, and I’m just now drinking it. Wishing it were still available, but if I know Verdant, there’s another one I’ll love just as much or more.

My new favorite tea, I always had a soft spot for white tea, especially bai mu dan. This is now my new favorite white. After doing a very short steep about 30 seconds in a 110 ml gaiwan. I got an almost clear liquor, but the aroma coming from it was absolutely divine. And as soon as I sipped it, I got this intense, floral, jasmine sweetness, without even a hint of any astringency, it was so smooth and easy to drink.

Im… stunned.. this is my new favorite tea.. its mellow, but at the same time its got intense flavor and aroma but its never overpowering. Im getting more and more impressed with Verdant tea as I have not been disappointed with anything ive gotten from them including the samples.

In subsequent resteeps it keeps it’s aroma and flavor very impressively. I still get the intensity even after third and fourth steep. I know silver needle always holds up well, but still im again pleasantly surprised, if you ever order from them, do yourself a favor and get a sample of this, as the price is incredibly reasonable too.

I love this tea! Of all the jasmine teas I’ve tried, this has the freshest and most clean flavor.
